Chit Chat / Re: What are you cooking today?

Neighbour gave me the recipe and said she didnít know why the were called Surprise. I now think I know.   The first lot I left plain.  The second lot I added coconut and made Monte Carlos.  This last lot I added walnuts, dried sour cherries and choc chips.

So the surprise is more for the biscuit itself, not the cook Chookie.  It sounds like a very good biscuit recipe.

We had beautiful sunshine here this afternoon, there was 13mm rain overnight.  Did you end up getting any today Julie?

Iíve just finished making this stock powder as Katie brought some celery seeds around for me prior to my order being delivered.  I havenít anything to cook to use it at the moment so I put 2 tsp in a mug of boiling water and itís so full of flavour as I expected.  A great one for our vegetarians although anyone can use it, I certainly will be trying it when chicken stock is called for.

Great idea to use the waffle maker Julie, I should use mine more for different things.  I found some waffles in the freezer today when I was looking for something else so it was nice to find some extra breakfasts Iíd forgotten about.   Love your baguettes and Iím pleased to hear DH enjoyed his chow mein.

Thank you Julie.  I accidentally found the miso paste in Drakes yesterday so now I have to find the recipe to use it.  Ah yes MichelleĎs Miso salmon recipe print out, I found it.  I sent Katie home with some little tubs of it today as thereís quite a lot in the container, I will definitely freeze the rest of it.  Iíd checked there before and they never had it, today I wasnít looking for it and there it was.

Love the labels Chookie, with the amount of jam etc you make and give away I hope you ordered thousands of them LOL

Today I made a batch of Johnroís Macaroni Beef -  https://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=4246.0 and a SC pulled beef recipe https://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=16172.0

When we thaw the avos Chookie, can we eat them as they are or are they only going to be good for putting in something like a smoothie or dip?  Maybe Julie will know as she shared the idea with us.
I had pulled beef topped with mashed potato.

A terrific idea Marina and quickly taken onboard by everyone posting so far.
Iíve already posted my silver lining story in another thread ie a visit from Katie, not knowing this was here at the time.
Actually I had a very busy day with people calling in for one reason or another.  My gardener rocked up with his neighbour and a chain saw to slice through a previously felled palm tree, take the logs away and cleaned up all the sawdust (my neighbour cut it down months ago and goodness knows when he was going to finish the job).  My gardener came back a little while later to plant some cannas heíd removed from one of his other clientsí gardens, another bare spot filled.

We had a lot of wind today, it was quite cold too but no rain to speak of in my suburb.
I feel for you Margaret, Itís so frustrating whilst you wait for things to be fixed.
I had a lovely visit from Katie this afternoon, now that I donít catch up with her at the nursing home regularly it was extra special to have her come to my house. She bought me some spices and supermarket magazines.

Thereís nothing like a good laugh and good friends Chookie.                                                                 Today I went to the gym, went shopping for food and clothes, had my eyes tested (and now have to see the Opthalmologist in a couple of weeksí time) then popped in to see a friend.  A full day.
