I can't wait to hear all about it. Are you going to make honeycomb first? Most people I read about seem to.

Good morning everyone.  A little bit of sunshine this morning but still quite cold.
I did a quick trip to the shops early this morning to pick up an item and it wasn't in.  Damn now I will have to go back.
DH went to the chemist yesterday to pick up a prescription, waited in line for 10 mins, plenty of staff all doing very little.  One man had even bought a book to read whilst waiting.  Service these days is so bad.

DD went into the city on the weekend and said she waited for quite some time in a couple of places and gave up eventually. It makes me cross when they are standing around chatting about their weekend etc.

Chookie I had a laugh at the baby magpie. Good on it.

I grew up having jam and cream at lunch time. We had yummy clotted cream from our own cows, taken from the top of the milk after Mum had scalded it. It is no wonder I have a weight problem as everyone in the family would take their cream they wanted and then I would use all the rest. When now DH used to come up he couldn't understand this jam and cream idea on bread at lunch. His upbringing was European. I don't think we ever convinced him either.

I'm hungry just looking at these pictures, Chookie

Me too. They all look delicious. No cooking here today.

I made rice pudding (without the gelatine and cream) and the blueberries (without the rose geranium leaves) for DHs birthday sweets tonight. Its absolutely delicious.

I'm sure it was very tasty though Judy. Real comfort foods.

I passed on your messages to DH and he said thank you.
I made a Carrot and Sultana tray bake today as DH's home birthday cake. It looks very nice.

We are a food forum tomcl and don't really know much about the ins and outs of a thermomix. However a few of us have had this happen and I think the repair centre may be correct.
Do you have anyone who has a machine and you can try theirs?

It sounds lovely Chookie.

I am baking  today and may get brave and put MIL's figures together to see if they balance. I am stupid as I get quite nervous when I put it all together, as I know if it doesn't balance to within about $10 I need to look through it all for mistakes. This is the 10th year, I was hoping that they would trust us by now!! I guess with DH's brother dying it is a complete new chapter, now it is only him.

I hope they didn't have stringy centres Chookie. I love parsnip mash and baked parsnip, but all those I buy have yuck centres.

That sounds exciting Chookie. I hope youo get to keep what you find!
A friend of DD's went to a High Tea that featured truffles on the weekend. I haven't heard what she thought. DD was invited but wasn't sure how she would enjoy truffles with sweet things.

It was delicious Judy. I've put up a review. I was looking at her baked spaghetti dish this morning. It looks perfect for cool weather.

The walnut and date cake looks lovely. I have Katie's Overnight SD rising, a fruit loaf rising, a butter cake cooked in a swiss roll tin with apples on the top. (DH will take this to car club tomorrow as it's his birthday) and the biscuit barrel is empty so I hope to bake something for that.

The timer just went for DH's cake and it has boiled over!!!!!!! Not happy Jan.  Its not too bad.

Faster Chicken Stew.

This is really tasty. I made a half mix and this was enough for 3 plus leftovers for DHs lunch tomorrow.
