Robyn, I probably didn't word that properly, and whilst I don't work my DH has not retired yet.
I don't know if it is just a WA thing to call them over 55 Lifestyle village. I would say most of the people here are retired and well over 55. We love the fact we don't have a garden to look after but are surrounded with lovely gardens that are fully maintained. Lots of choices of things to do ie, men's workshop (DH has already made some shelves for a small space). A craft room that is available all the time for the use of, however we do meet on a Friday morning for a cuppa and chat and do whatever you are working on, wether it be knitting, sewing etc.
All facilities are here, pool, spa, gym, bowling green, cards, scrabble, big library, yoga, water aerobics, pool tables. 24hr emergency response call.
A Doctor that calls twice a week, podiatrist, Chiro, on site hairdresser, prescription delivery etc etc.. Whilst we won't be using all these facilities and more for a long time, it is something we felt would come in handy in years to come. We certainly don't want to move again, and the neighbours are all like minded people. Also very secure!

Good morning everyone.

I'm so glad you are enjoying living in Ballarat Chookie and I can imagine how surprised you were to get that reaction from a worker who obviously really appreciated your lovely morning tea.

The facilities at your village sound great Katj and you are obviously enjoying your decision to move there.

Welcome home Margaret, there's nothing like a good holiday to recharge our batteries.

What a great sounding place Katj.   :D

Chookie, sounds like you love your new home and town already.  :D

Gert, not boring at all, sounds like you do more than me  ;D

We are having morning tea on the road as we are going down the coast to our daughter's place to pick up our cat.  I made a couple of lattes and put into flasks to keep hot and gently warmed through the other half of the cinnamon bread I made the other day. The bread re-heats lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed it with our coffees.  Will be making more of that for the freezer.

Am loving the lovely days and cooler nights we are having, so much better than summer  ;D

Lots of positives Katj. Your place certainly sounds pretty flash. Here we are bare bones but "cheap". All good. But......and there is always a but........there are some who  continually whinge and whine which gets up the noses of the rest of and there is always one who is an absolute nightmare. We call her the Queen. Avoidance is the best plan. LOL!

Gert, I wouldn't call it flash, it is not new, been here 25yrs, but is solidly built and very well maintained.
We are also a short walk to lovely parks, movie cinema, shops & restaurants. Everything we need for the future. Kids are closer so we see more of GK's and they want families to join residents and use pool & bbq facilities. You can also have friends or rellies stay for up to 6 weeks. We are very happy with our decision as I'm sure you are too.

Chookie you will soon have the tradesmen ringing you for jobs, word of your morning/afternoon teas will spread. Like you I can't bear to have someone doing a job here and not feed them.

Katj your new home sounds perfect, all the things you need. It is wise to think forwards. I don't think we will be doing it yet. DH needs all the space for the vintage cars, as you know.
Robyn I know of a couple of 'seniors' villages here that take over 45's. Perhaps it is a WA thing as Katj said.

Gert your new home has something very special- a lady that helps with IT on Monday afternoons.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

morning all.
Kat, and Gert love it as we get older we can make choices that suit. Everyone is different and some find it difficult to understand choices. It is nice to be happy with your choice as some are never happy.
We are looking forward to a very busy 5 days with family and friends.

Chookie, you are so right. Enjoy your 5 days with family and friends.
I am babysitting for a few hours today. I will get my daily exercise in by walking to DD's, exactly 2 km. That is one of the bonus's for our move, we don't face that wretched freeway traffic anymore when visiting the GK's.
