Arrived home yesterday. Made large TMX bowl of veggie soup and Mixed grain bread in Bread machine. I ground up some wheat in TMX.
The food on the Out Back Tour was very good, except for the bread. Lots of sea food and salads.

I’ve been eating Chow Mien and Pea and Ham soup for several days. Time for a change. Kangaroo in Stout from the freezer. ?
Do you good Forum people realise just how well we eat ? I have just read an article in the Age about travelling on the Ghan. Which is what I’ve just done. They mention the outstanding food. This was not my experience. Although the options were amazing for a train, the actual dishes weren’t in my opinion all that good. One of the sweets sounded great but was a 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt with a spoonful of berry compote on top. Then a Salmon fillet not properly trimmed. Had cartilage attached. Also beef fillet with gristle on the edge. The service however was excellent as was the 6 am experience off the train to watch the sunrise over the dessert. Egg and Bacon rolls and hot tea and coffee were served to keep the 2 degree chill away.

This is so true Chookie. We rarely eat out, mainly NFG lunches, and basically accept it won’t be as good as home.

Cookie, the quality and variety of food that you prepare is far superior to what you would experience in most restaurants. I like to eat out , just to see what is the latest thing in vogue. I’m very critical and mostly disappointed. Occasionally I find a really good cafe or restaurant and love the experience. If it’s an open kitchen I locate the chef and tell them that I’ve enjoyed their cooking. They are always delighted with the feed back.
Recently excellent meal. seafood chowder at a pub in Creswick.
