We had a lovely lunch at Mullaloo beach hotel with DS, DIL and baby Sophie. Arrived home and went onto balcony to find 3 police wagons and 2 ambulances parked opposite the house. One of the ambulances left with flashing lights and insaw a police officer bring a boogie board up from the rocks. Lots of people around watching and crying but no idea what happened. Wasnt a shark attack as still heaps of body boarders in the water .  ???

Just heard on the news that it was a 47 year old man who was caught in a rip while swimming at Clayton's beach late  yesterday afternoon. Sadly he passed away. He was a holiday maker from the UK and his family were with him on the beach  :(

From what I saw yesterday I feared the worst.
What an awful thing to happen on holiday. I feel for the  family.
That beach should have warnings about the rips. It's a surf beach not a swimming beach  >:(
We take the kids there to play in the sand and have a paddle but would never let them go above their knees.
A lovely swimming beach 2 minutes away by car.

A few prominent signs could have averted the tragedy.

I've been on holidays - did anyone miss me :D

I had to go back to work today and I've struggled.  Really don't want to go back tomorrow, maybe it's time to retire.

I have soooo many posts to catch up on..........
I do the best I can

Sad news.   Locals are aware but tourists get caught time and time again in these situations at a lot of our beaches.

So sad MF...rips are certainly scary...have been caught in them twice myself when younger.  luckily I knew had to get out of it.

Speaking of beaches, down there today at Barwon Heads with the kids.  DS had his mates Birthday party, great day for it too.
DS very pleased with himself, as his very first attempt at surfing was successful   8)  He's still grinning about it   :)
boys out fishing tonight, so relaxing with some bubbles & rubbing aloe Vera on my sunburn   :-[

Allow me to firstly apologise - a couple of weeks back a few lovelies asked for the Dutch apple pancake recipe. Thankfully the lovely Trudy jogged my memory and I have posted in Breakfasts and for those wondering about the puff dumpling pan - muffin pans or gem irons work as well!!!  :)  :)
