You are certainly doing what you love most DJ, fixing and making things right is your forte for sure. Nice to hear how everything is progressing.

DJ don't forget to remove the cover when using your Victorian Range!

Gert

No I won't but as it is very messy and not very efficient ( there was a reason they were taken out of so many homes) I imagine it will be covered more than used. I think they were designed for coal so,we will try anthracite as it is cleaner (smokeless). As a feature though its lovely. The previous owner left the black leading cream too so when we've finished the kitchen I will try to polish it back up to glory. It is certainly battered as I had to put so much fire cement in the cracks. However I think it will be ok and think in the end the oven could be used in a power cut. I need to seal the oven door with fire rope, but we need to lift the door off and steam clean it on the inside to remove years or soot and grime or the rope won't stick with the special glue.

If the weathers ok it is a gardening day today for me. DH away working today. Builder and electrician in the house. I hope to plant tulip bulbs and generally weed and tidy up. Weather says cloudy, currently 8'C. We have had a lot of rain so the flower beds are very wet. I tidied the geraniums last night but wonder how much longer they'll flower. Will try to over winter in green house, but need to read up on how and when to do that.

Wow DJ you are certainly keeping yourself busy :)

I spent the morning on the phone trying to sort out several problems.  Firstly with a Government Dept whose incompetence is unbelievable. Then with a local business who still hasn't delivered the stove & freezer that I ordered nearly 3 weeks ago, and then they had the wrong delivery address and I had made it quite clear where they were to be delivered to, and lastly  with the electricity company who have not sent me a bill since we moved in here 6 months ago.  They tell me there is no meter as it has been removed.  The damned thing is in the box at the front of the house where you can't miss it and we have seen a meter reader reading it.

What is wrong with people these days, they just don't seem to care.

Ok have had my whinge now so will get back in my box.
The  man who said it can't be done should not interupt the woman doing it.

Got some gardening, mainly weeding, done before rain stopped me. Did some dog training, and lots of research on net about re enamelling baths and looked at hurdles for the garden.  Few phone calls regarding the house project. Went out for hinges and door handles to builders merchant 10 miles away as we had the wrong ones. Always something to do here.
Electrician has somehow cut off supply to washing machine, and washing far too wet to get out, will sort it tomorrow.

Sympathies Mab, we all have times like that.

Very frustrating Mab.
Hope they sort it out soon.

I'm just staying quiet at home resting after my nasal surgery. Feeling a bit sick and sorry for myself. My DH is taking good care of me.

Same here Katie - such a waste of time isn't it >:(   I want to visit Geoff again today though as we have 3 lots of visitors going in, it never rains but it pours.  I won't stay too long but need to put in an appearance.  I went in mid afternoon yesterday to make sure he settled well in his new single room - a week under 6 5 months since he went into Morpeth and finally has his own room.  He was very happy with it yesterday so hope he still feels the same today. He played bingo on Monday for the first time, won a game and was rewarded with a small chocolate.  Nice to see he is joining in activities and enjoying them.
