I made the Focccia Bread from RTE.  A mouse has taken a bite out of it already. It was given the tick of approval.

GD is down from Queensland for a few days and she wanted to have a final campfire and roast.  We had a lovely day on Saturday with all the family the weather was kind and the food and wine were good.  Camp oven roast lamb, scalloped potatoes, coleslaw and bread rolls with apple cake and cream for dessert and a couple of bottles of nice wine.   It was a bit sad that this was to be our last time together on their bush property but we have lots of wonderful memories.

Thank you Marina and Chookie for your suggestions.  I'll certainly try the chocolate mousse Marina and I have made Chookie's Mango Fluff many times but usually in the summer.

Katie take care and look after yourself.  I agree with Cookie it's certainly the weather to hibernate.  It's cold wet and miserable here where I am.

Last night the men had steak with smashed potatoes and mixed veg.  Tonight they are having rissoles with left over veg.  Soup for me as I have had a couple days of not being able to keep much down.

Today I made some old fashioned Chocolate Blancmange for my dessert.  I've been buying small chocolate desserts from the supermarket lately so decided to give this a  try and it tastes very nice  and I know what is in it.

Today I made 6 Spinach & Ricotta  parcels in filo pastry and with the left over sheets I made 2 apple and cinnamon parcels.  We shared one of the apple ones at lunch time and it was very nice.

Mab, how are you going with the bread machine?
Yesterday I played with the Varoma on the 7. I used the steaming function. I placed some  cooked Beef in stout in a small glass dish and covered it. I surround it with carrot, Cauli, zucchini and a small potato, cut in half. Steamed for 20 minutes. A very convenient meal.

Chookie my breadmaking the the bread machine has been hit and miss.  A few days ago  I put all the ingredients in the bowl and had forgotten to put the blade in.  I had to tip it all out put the blade in then the ingredients but not in order.  It was a very nice loaf of bread.  Yesterday I remembered the blade and measured everything carefully and the bread was very heavy and didn't rise much.  DS liked it DH said he didn't want any more of it. I will not give up :)

This morning I made the fruit cake for our eldest DS's birthday tomorrow and this was successful.  This afternoon I made tuna patties for GS and then used some of the left over mixture to make samosa in a machine I had bought from KMart. I don't think the machine got hot enough so I finished cooking them in the oven.

Our eldest DS called in this afternoon to tell us that they have sold their lovely house and 17 acres of bush. We are rather sad about this because we have spent so many lovely times there  having afternoon teas in the sun or sitting around the camp fire with a camp oven roast and a nice bottle or two of good wine.  Since his chainsaw accident he has still not been able to work and has found it difficult to maintain everything as he would like to so we understand his decision.

Over the last couple of days I have made Chicken and vegetable casserole, Lasagne, Bolognaise sauce, Leek and Potato soup and a loaf of bread in the bread maker.  I now have fruit soaking in sherry for a fruit cake.
