Hi bron, welcome back. How do we make a Kringle? They look awesome!

Today made fish pie for supper as DH is away and the rest of us love it and he hates it..... LOL and Belgium lemon cake with chookies lemon spread instead of lemon curd. Yummo.

Nothing happening in my kitchen today, going out for lunch then dinner - a first for me, never been out twice in 1 day but time is running out to catch up with friends.  Will be choosing something very light from the lunch menu.

No cooking for me because I'm working from the office but I did chop up oranges and watermelon to dehydrate while I'm gone.

Just finished cooking a seasoned turkey breast and the ingredients for a potato salad to have for lunch tomorrow when my best friend comes for a visit.  Still have to make the dressing yet and the remaining salads will be made in the morning.  Pavlovas came out well and these will be filled with a lemon custard.
The  man who said it can't be done should not interupt the woman doing it.

Today I am making Angelhair pasta with smoked eel, garlic, chilli and pangrattato . I also made a smoked eel pate to spread on some ciabatta. Yummy,

Will post a pic if it looks ok.

Love this smoked eel  from Harris smokehouse in Hanhdorf, SA

Here is my dish of the day!

Very inexpensive to make and a winner. The pate is to die for. That is if you like smoked eel.

Bron the Kringles look lovely.

Gert I am not a fan of eel but your food looks tasty.

Just a mild smoked fish flavour . I doubt anyone would know it was eel. Certainly DH's didn't and he loves the stuff. I am not a fan but I really loved it too. A very simple meal which was very inexpensive. 180 gms of smoked eel cost me $10.50 , fed the two of us and have pate left over. You need very little.

The flavour was not nearly as strong a flavour as smoked salmon which I am really not fond of at all but I will eat it.

It's certainly economical. Did you see Gourmet Farmer last night. They caught an eel and smoked it.

I'd certainly give it a try. It looks delicious.
I've made the salted caramel fudge as my first attempt at fudge and am in the middle of making some more umami paste. It's too hot to turn the oven on here even though we have no bread in the house. Cheese and crackers for lunch ;)

GERT...smoked eel is my favourite since childhood!!  My Opa always smoked them, and we'd eat them most weekends.
he would clean them in an old twin tub washing machine (great way to get the slime off),  and gut with his thumb nail (which was as good as any knife  :P)
Trick is to not get the fat ones....they're very oily and not as nice as the thinner ones.
now I want one!

Someone please remind me that hamper cooking is not a great idea...the day before giving!  Then at 11pm, I remember I promised DS reindeer cake pops for the class party today....in bed 2 hrs. Before sun up  :-X

For the 3 teachers in his class

They consisted of

3 layers of salted caramel fudge

And the chilli cherry ripe from in the mix 2....delicious!

.....I have more hampers to make up, but don't have such a tight deadline  ;)

The cake pops were all reindeers like these....forgot to take pic

....Yawns

.........EAT CAKE!
