Chookie, I'm sorry to hear that you have been unwell.  I hope you recover quickly.

We have had our DS staying with us again over Christmas, he returned to Qld on Wednesday and will be back again in a couple of weeks.

Laundry day today, I changed the linen on all the beds to take advantage of the good weather.

Chookie that’s not great at all . Hope you’re feeling better now . Judy how exciting getting TM7 and a new massage chair . Happy new year everyone. We managed a night away with friends for NYE . Fabulous food and maybe a tad a champagne.. yesterday, day of rest for me . Boys back harvesting, quite a few mishaps ! One being DS locked out of the tractor ! Very strange as he had been in and out heaps . Problem solved. Now we have heaps of oats to be trucked out and no trucks available! Also depo has haltered all deliveries till Wednesday… DH DS are full on problem solving. We will have to store it and move to Wheat . Warming up which is good .

Netting some of our fruit trees before the corellas get to them - they have already got to our crab apples - it looks like I many not have to prune it this year going by the number of leaves , twigs, etc underneath it!

 Marina,I’m going to have to postpone our get together . I’m not coping well with the drugs which I’m taking to control the pain. They keep putting me to sleep. I was hoping that the cortisone would kick in and I would be ok. I was so looking forward to to catching up.

Chookie, after reading your earlier post I thought to wait a few days before getting in touch and had decided to drop you a note today, much along the lines of your message.  We were both very upset to read your earlier post and we hope you pull through and recover from this soon.  If there is anything we can do or help in any way, please do not hesitate to let me know.  Until we can arrange another get-together, take care of yourself and there is always another day for us to catch up in person when you are up and running again xxx

Chookie so sorry you’re still dealing with the pain . Did you do anything for it all to happen. Rest is the best medicine too . Looks like it’s going to be a hot week ! Today I best get my cooking mojo on or I’ll be cooking roasts in the hottest part of the day . DH up early for a truck to take wheat ( last years )  so some silos are empty to store the oats !!

A trip to the supermarket this morning  and then the post office.

How are you getting on now, Chookie?  I hope you are settling down, that your medications are helping and you are feeling better.

We (read DH) has had a busy time over the Xmas period.  He built one hugelkultur bed in our garden - I had heard of this form of garden bed preparation a couple of years ago and finally got DH motivated so he adapted our 'no dig' garden to the hugelkultur method - basically it is one enormous bed comprising layers of wood, twigs, compost, soil and mulch.  It will be interesting to see how it goes.  It has the huge advantage that a lot of the pruning from our trees goes into making it, therefore we have less garden waste to burn at the end of the season.  I think it will take the best part of a year before we see how successful (or otherwise) it was, but DH is now looking at getting another couple of these beds up and running so fingers crossed that we will have a fruitful (excuse the pun) garden system on the go over the next couple of years.

Also got a new home compost system up and running - we bought a Maze tumble composter and set it up just yesterday and DH says it is already looking successful, turning general garden and household waste into usable compost.

We return to work next week and I think DH is looking forward to it so that he can recover from this holiday.

Wow that’s innovative , you will be self sufficient soon . Up early to beat the heat , lots of washing done twice as my washing machine decides to need a check on the outlet . Just means time wasted and rewatch of the load . Today is the 12th day after Christmas! Do all decorations have been taken down and almost put away. Except DS will have to take down the colourful lights around the living room . Made DD bed , stripped ours and the underlay , washing them now . Put a lot of things away . Now to think about food lunch and dinner . It’s was already 30 at 9am .

I washed DS big fluffy jacket this morning.  Over the past couple of weeks I have slowly been culling a lot of my recipes that I know I'm unlikely to make.

I went to see my brother this morning and this evening I had book club.

My day got busy when I did paddock dinner had to move lots CB of machinery , I was the ride share vehicle!! Till 11pm . Then I had my dinner . Today it’s terribly hot 35 at 10 am . It was 27 at 8am . So windy too . I watered the lemon tree last night and today I found 26 lemons on the ground. , now they are looking at me !! They must have been too heavy with a bit of water , helped the leaves and hopefully survive the heat .
