I'm glad you're over the other side of the country Gert :-))

Fingers crossed the are completely healed by the retreat!!! :o

I am not kidding Amy. I do NOT to like the look of the right one which has A red enflamed outer ridge and yellow/green on the inside.  It needs  cleaning up .  Get some peroxide and pour it into it. It will fizz up, removing the  crap. You can clearly see how the wound is healing from the outside in.

Get into the bath aNd scrub if  nothing else. It will heal quicker and cleaner. I did not realise that one was so deep. What you want to be looking at is new baby skin that bleeds nicely in the centre.

Keep these wounds open now . The other knee not so bad. You should be removing all that dead stuff to promote the healing. Google Debridement

I fell pretty hard and the treadmill was running really fast. I'm not surprised it took that much skin off, but I'd been hoping it was just my imagination :P
The yellow stuff has been grossing me out a bit. I didn't know whether it was good or bad or just ugly :-))
I went swimming in the pool yesterday, do you think the chlorine would have affected them in any way?
I will google debridement, thank you DFA Gertie ;D

The main thing is to get rid of all the dead tissue to aid  healing and prevent scarring.

No the chlorine would not effect it.

The yellow stuff is a collection of dead cells and should be removed. Scrubbing ais the bst way to get rid of it.

Hydrogen peroxide is not used much these days but I don't know why as it works . You want the dead stuff removed so you can see PINK. Skin which bleeds . after cleaning just put a washer into the wound and apply pressure for  5 minutes until the bleeding stops.

You can buy peroxide at cole and woolies in the chemist  aisle or in an  chemist.

You can always use a saline scrub as well and LUX flakes if they still have LUX flakes .  Scrub hard  and rinse repeatedly. .

That's going to hurt like a b**** :(

But I'm going to raid the medicine cabinet and see of we have any peroxide. Mum might have some. If you don't hear back from me tonight, I've probably passed out in the bathroom :-))

Thank you Gert. And Frozzie, I hope you are right and she does know what she's talking about ;)

Evening all.
Hope you're ok Amy, Gert is good. Thanks matron Gert!

Spent hours preparing field for pony from tomorrow. Tried to sort kit out after supper but too tired and tearful. DD said good bye to dog, so very sad.

Friend was good to see but everyone is stunned. Hopefully he'll be back before too long and take DH for a few beers.

As are we still (stunned).

Xx

Goodmorning all,

Amy take care of those knees, they don't look good.  Please do what Gert suggests.

DJ, still thinking of you, we have been down that track and I know it is very stressful. Take care
