I was looking into becoming a Consultant, but after going through everything I decided it would cost me too much to make any real money from it bearing in mind I would have to travel round trips of 3 hours, , spend hours to do a demo, food, petrol, etc.  I feel the Company makes it very hard for Consultants to make a real salary as they put so many limitations as to what the Consultant can sell.
 Also, I arranged a Varoma demo for a group of friends and horrified to find it cost $45.00 for the food, and low and behold only two turned up, I did get a Steam Ahead book, (not in the best of conditions I may add) which wasn't much help to me as I do not like Seafood (I know).  I will be looking to see what I can source from Europe as I do feel was are rather let down here in Oz by the Company as you only have to look at this forum to see how passionate we all are about it. 
i know what you mean penji, when i was selling tupperware i didn't care at all if only 2 people turned up, it didn't cost me anything (other than petrol) to do a party, plus my party average was over $900. whereas with TMX i literally couldn't afford to 'throw away' $40ish on food for no sales :( it made me really unwilling to do demos unless i had a guaranteed sale (or very keen customer) as i just couldn't afford to.

That is part of the reason I gave it up - the costs of doing demos were just too much for me at the time. I even had a couple in Sydney (about 2 hours from where I live) who are the parents of a good friend of mine ask me to come and do a demo for them. They are both GPs and had been to their daughter's demo so I felt sure they would buy.

But they didn't. My husband was with me that day and he said I did an excellent demo. That demo cost me an entire day of my time and over $50 in ingredients and petrol.

I agree that some consultants are better than others, but to be fair, it is a difficult job to do, with all the restrictions and rules. There doesn't seem to be a lot of money in it for the effort that goes in. I think it is especially hard for the new consultants doing the 60 day program, because from the moment you up sign the clock is on and you're forced out there even when you're so new and haven't had a lot of practice.
