« on: February 02, 2011, 10:07:04 pm »
Has anyone successfully toasted nuts (liike pine nuts, sesame seeds etc) in the TMX?  How did you do it?

Sorry Karen, I don't think the TMX gets hot enough... I always dry roast under the grill or in a fry pan.  :-\

Maybe someone else has succeeded though!  :)

One girl i know tried it and said it took forever, but she wanted to see if the TMX could do it. my preference is to pop the nuts on a baking dish and put it into the oven after baking something - it does beautifully in the retained heat.

I find it easier and quicker to put nuts on a little saucer or plate and toast in the microwave for 2-3 minutes on High, checking in between and just moving them around to distribute the oil. Works well with sesame seeds, pine nuts, hazlenuts etc

I use Varoma temperature on reverse speed 1 for a few minutes until toasted to my liking. Much easier than lugging the frypan out of the cupboard!

I do the same and I don't burn them this way. Under the grill, in the fry pan, microwave - you name it I burnt and threw out more than I toasted!!!

I also make sure I leave the MC out when I do it to keep them as dry as possible  ;)

Same here! I can't tell you the number of times I stepped away from the stove for a minute and came back to ruined nuts.

I always microwave - spread evenly on a small plate. 2 mins then check, and roll around and try 20 secs at a time. Should take no more than 3 mins  :D and only a plate to wash
