People keep you busy with fruit drop offs Chookie. You must be feeling a bit better to be back in the kitchen. Which machine do you use for jam making?
Drakes had a pack of mushrooms out cheap, nothing wrong with them so I’ve made Skinnymixers Creamy Butter Mushrooms but I turned it into a sauce to serve over pasta. I’m making more than I can eat at the moment but I’m enjoying playing with my new machine and getting to know a lot more about its capabilities in the process.

Judy you are certainly giving your new machine a good workout.  No cooking here today.

It’s fun Margaret. For tea I made a small batch of Cookidoo potato pancakes, crispy and delicious.

I’m glad you’re enjoying it Judy. It’s quite a special  gadget.

KAtie, yes plum paste would be good but I’ve still got some fruit pastes from last year. Bought another kilo of Apricots as the Apricot jam was very popular. I’ll be making some sweet Chilli sauce over the long weekend.

Another small loaf. I think I have cracked the right formula. A wetter dough than the big bread machine. These small loaves are working out well. A sandwich, ( salad today), when fresh and then slice a freeze the remaining 7 slices. Apricot Jam, if I have time.

I made some Hot Cross Buns today using Chookie’s recipe. They look good and taste nice but I felt the dough was a little stiff.

Cookie, could be the flour water ratio. I’m finding in this hot weather I’m adding more liquid. In fact quite a lot more. However the recipe is quite solid, not fluffy like the bought ones. I think the amount of fruit retards the rising. Adding improver may give a lighter bun.
The small loaf I made yesterday was oat, yogurt and maple syrup. Lovely. I can’t resist fiddling with the recipes. This made a beautiful ham and salad sandwich.

I picked up quite a few packets of fruit and veggies on the clearance table this morning, good quality too. Have made a batch of capsicum and onions for omelettes or pizzas in the TM7, boiled some potatoes and eggs for a salad (TM31), made a refreshing drink of watermelon, cucumber, lemon juice and olive oil in the NutriBullet, froze slices of watermelon and cucumber for more of these drinks, chopped up 3 peaches to eat with ice-cream. Cut up and froze 2 of the 3 avocados to add to my smoothies and kept the very firm one for salads. I still have a bunch of bok choc and 8 apples to deal with.

Thanks Chookie. I think you are correct. I made a Classic loaf today and added more SD starter. I did the same with my overnight rye SD.

That is a lot of work, Judy.  Obviously the cooler weather has arrived at your place!

I didn't know until about 3 days ago that you could freeze avocado.  Do they discolour when they thaw out?

Hell, it was hot yesterday. Everything felt hot. Only good thing about that was the washing dried very quickly. 41 degrees.
Last lot of Apricot Jam today.
Judy, you are really are on a cooking binge. What fun you are having.
