Good on you Grandma. No cooking in this heat but I did boil some eggs for an egg and lettuce sandwich for lunch.

Nothing today as it's far too hot. Over the past few days I have made several lots of shortbread, chop chip cookies and roasted a turkey roll to have for lunches

I made a batch of Spiced Nuts and Cranberries, but they caught a bit and don’t taste the best.
DH and I made a large batch of Bread and Butter cucumbers. I did a rye SD loaf that’s rising in the fridge and a batch of Parmesan and Rosemary rolls.

Yummo Cookie.
Made 22 rye crumpets.
The puff pastry for the sausage rolls, I left to defrost in the fridge overnight. I usually use it straight from the freezer. When baked , the pastry looked different. I found that when reheating the rolls in the microwave the pastry still remained crisp. Usually it goes soft.

That’s interesting Chookie.
I made some Pistachio and Cranberry shortbread today. I forgot about it as I had a nanna nap. I’ll cook it tomorrow.

Roast chicken, mashed pots, mixed veggies, ( including snow peas from garden), Xmas Pud with Brandy custard and ice cream. Friend coming for lunch.
I did a taste test of Xmas hams from Wilson’s. I bought 2 slice of 3 different hams. The one I preferred was Fabbris easy carve leg ham. It was moist, smoky and not too salty. I intended to buy slices but was able to buy a small 1/2 leg .
When I bought the slices to try, the shop assistant was carving the ham the wrong way. I suggested he carve it on the side. Which he did and was surprised at how much easier it was. He was also using the wrong knife. Couldn’t do anything about that.

Chookie I brought the Grandmothers ham , as this one has the lest ingredients in it ( also no msg as I’m allergic) , did you try that one it’s normally moist . Yesterday I chopped golden raisins added the other dried fruit added the brandy to soak . This is for ice cream plum pudding that I make each year ! Double batch . Hopefully I’ll make two small ones so DD can have it later . Went to bake pistachio and cranberry shortbread, double batch and no raw sugar! I was so organised.. had visions of preparing it then cook it the next day . Oh well .

I cooked my shortbread, made some Chloe’s Caramel Fudge from Cookidoo (for DD to take to work as gifts), and some crackers that are like Olina’s ones. One batch were from RTE.

Cookie, that RTE cracker recipe is one I have been meaning to make since you mentioned it a couple of weeks ago. I will hopefully have time over the Xmas holiday to mix up a batch. I am looking forward to trying it

Katie, the Grandmother’s ham is my go to for everyday ham. I was looking for something a bit different. For many years we visited the Istra factory and bought a large ham on the bone. They are at Musk in central Vic. Near Daylesford. We eat what we want on Xmas day and then I carve the rest and send everyone home with a package.
Gave a friend a pot of my Mandarin Jelly. Her friend , who is a CWA judge had a taste. She gave it 10/10 for taste and 9/10 for set. I was happy about the taste as I try and make my preserves as tasty as possible. The setting is another issue. For example, the Apricot jam is more about texture than set, ( like jelly) .

Yesterday I made a pastry case for GD's Berry Lemon Curd tart for her Christmas dessert. I roasted three portobello mushrooms and made the filling for her Mushroom Wellington I will finalize these when she come to collect them.
This morning I have made a Boiled Fruit Cake using Kimmy's recipe from the forum.
