A Thermomix Widower
« on: November 08, 2009, 10:28:45 pm »
Hello all,

As you have probably guessed, I'm Shally's other half... I was kinda excited about getting a Thermomix too (after going to the demo.) I was really impressed with just what the TM could do and how I can improve my skill with help from the machine.

I'm looking forward to looking out for nice recipies and good ideas from this forum...

I have to admit, I have used the TM more than my DW so far, but I'm sure this'll change...

One of the reasons we bought the TM is to improve our diets and start eating fresher and more organic foods; eating less preservatives and 'off the shelf' foods. I'm really interested in making our own butter etc too...

So, this is just me just saying 'Hi!' Looking forward to much more reading and posting  :)

Hi Shallys DH. Get right on to that butter making. It is easy and delicious. Be sure to keep the butter milk  to make the buttermilk bread.

Welcome to the forum. I hope there is no fighting over time share.

Welcome to the forum - sounds like you need 2 TMXs with the competition at home.  Sure you'll find lots on here to cook and hope you can convert some of your favourites too.

You may need to work out a roster for whose turn it is each day/hour - good luck

Welcome Shally's DH. It's great to see a DH on here too.

We already have one of those; My DW, our two children and I all share the jobs daily. We are all responsible for one meal each a day, i.e. One day breakfast, next day lunch, day after dinner and finally the last day, washing up and loading/unloading the dishwasher. This rotates around the 4 of us - Some days it is easier getting blood out of a stone than getting the kids to help, but most of the time it works well  ;)

I can't see my DW & I arguing too much about the cooking - she's quite relieved that I take an interest TBH!

Good to see some organisation in the kitchen - great stuff.  Also good to see that Shally appreciates your food.

I made the absolutely beautiful leek and potato soup for tea the other night out of the ECB (UK)

It was stunning... I was very pleased with myself!

Even the kids loved it; they normally turn their noses up at the sight of onions and leeks  ;D

Welcome Shally's DH! I'm so envious of Shally! A DH who loves the TMX and cooks!! Good grief, I didn't think such a person existed anymore :o
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.
