Just booked our next trip to Oahu in April. This time we are returning to hotels so I get to be a bit spoilt (last trip was in a condo, very nice but I had to make beds, do washing and cleaning so wasn't as relaxing as usual LOL).

We are just back from 2 weeks in Bali, Christmas and New Year. We stayed at 2 different hotels, both 5 star but wow what a difference. We have been to both before. The first hotel was the Laguna in Nusa Dua, fantastic service for our villa, would call the butler and everything was done and organised straight away. The villa was large and very luxurious. The last 4 days we stayed at Ayana and wont be going back to the The Ayana at Jimbaran Bay. We booked a rollout bed for our son, checked in at 3pm, his bed arrived at midnight after many calls. The staff had no idea about what was on and what was included in our villa pricing etc. We were in an updated luxury villa but the service was shocking, the room was cleaned after numerous calls about 3pm. We expect for the money and the hotel the room to be cleaned while we are at breakfast. So many things wrong with this hotel and the food was disgusting in several restaurants. Whereas the Laguna our villa was always spotless, restaurants great and service fantastic. The Rock bar at The Ayana is good, we went twice but priority to hotel guests is a joke. Around sunset numerous outsiders come to the hotel to visit the rock bar, so you must line up with them, you are in a priority queue but they check in you 50/50 so the queuse were at least 30 mins, then to queue again for a table and chairs. Both hotels were expensive, a villa around $700++ per night.

Sounds not good Hally :-\

If you are paying that much, I would expect a lot more.

I agree Obbie, we went to Ayana about 5 years ago and it was fantastic, I think they are now living off their name, which to us now sux.

Good to hear you enjoyed part of your holiday Hally, you now know not to go back to the second place. Did you have a word with the  Manager?

yes I spoke to the F&B Manager, we had a NYE buffet, cost over $300 and we ate hardly anything. The roast meats were tough, the indian dishes were nice, but no side dishes or indian style breads to accompany the curries. The desserts were a choice of 4 and no cheese board. He reduced the food bill by 50%. I am going to write to the hotel manager as there was so much misinformation, i.e. no kids allowed at the Rock Bar, ok thats the rules and it wouldn't suit our son, but when we finally get down there, kids, and toddlers! Lots of misinformation. We enjoyed the stay but we loved the Laguna, we were treated so well there.

You should post a review on Trip Advisor
