Would have to agree with you CP as cats are much less needy than dogs.
They also seem to like being on their own and pick and choose their times for affection and cuddles.

I used to share my house with a very fussy black and white domestic cat I called Miss Phoebe. She passed on a couple of years ago now - but she's remembered very fondly. OK I'm not sure I remember the I'm hungry whinge all that fondly.......

I am sure you have heard the saying - dogs have masters, cats have staff!

Today, on his 12th birthday, we have to say goodbye to Zeno, our best friend since he was a little pup. We decided to let him go while he has some dignity left, but it is a hard, very hard goodbye. We will miss you so much Zeno, and we hope there is a dog heaven where you can run around like you used to do!
Thanks for allowing us to love tou and for all the love you gave us the last 12 years.
You always have been caring, patient and kind to us, to Luka and everyone that you met.
We will never forget you!
Goodbye ..
Stef and Erik en little Luka...

Stef, so sorry for the loss of your beloved companion. They become part of our families and it's so sad to say goodbye.
How blessed you were to have Zeno in your lives.

Poor Zeno, Luka will miss him as much as you will Stef & Erik. Such a beautiful looking dog who has obviously enriched your lives.

What sad news Stef and Erik that you had to say goodbye to Zeno. It's such a hard decision to make but I know from personal experience it's done with love and in the interest of your beloved pet.

Thank you all for your kind words. One would think it gets easier,to do this over again. Zeno is our 4th member of our family we have to let go.. The older we become the harder it is to say goodbye...
Again, thank you all. Lots of love

I had a sad feeling when I saw this latest post was from you and knew it must have been Zeno's time. Our pets are so very dear and important to us and it is such a wrench when we have to let them go, even though we know it is the very very best thing we can do for them. Hugs and tears to you all.
