We are actually fairly busy with activities over the holidays.. They have alot of free or very cheap activities on the sunny coast so we have booked a number of those to get us out of the house and there is always the park or beach.. We have also been going out for breaky or lunch etc just the four of us to have a break

That would give your parents a break too Frozzie. I had my daughter and SIL stay with me when they were waiting for their house to settle to save on rent. I love them dearly but it was nice when they moved out into their own home.

 ;D ;D ;D

They only moved a 10 minute drive away at time and that was a nice distance. Now that I've re-married and moved it's about 1/2 hour drive which is also nice.  :)

Hope the neck improves soon Kim, a real pain in the neck (excuse the pun) when you didn't do anything to cause it.

I'd take a savoury plate as I'm sure most will take sweets.  Amy's quiches would be nice.

HOw about mini spring rolls, Frozzie - these go down really well at these sorts of events. You can get the wrappers from any Asian grocery and possibly the larger supermarkets.  Easy to put together and can be served cold.  Put a small container of sweet chilli sauce or other dipping sauce with it.  Just have to watch the kids don't double dip - but if the rolls are small enough, probably wont need a second helping of sauce ;)

REally sorry to hear about your neck - hope it goes quickly - nothing worse !!

Amy's quiches are really good! -  have taken them along to a gathering and they disappeared!!

Fruit platter a great idea, Uni - one of those el cheapo oval platters from the supermarket - watermelon, strawberries etc. also very popular

You beat me to it Uni, was going to suggest fruit also

Hope the neck comes right Frozzie, I had that a week ago, rubbed it with Percutane and it came right o'night.  Hope yours goes away soon
