oh CC!! That is just gorgeous!!!  I'm in Sydney - and so over the cold and the dark-at-5pm!  Admittedly, we've just passed the solstice which means the days are now getting a little longer, inch by inch, - but not fast enough for me - nor are they heating up at all!! ;D

If that's your back garden ... what's your front garden like?  Probably best not to post an image of it for safety / security reasons, so I will just still here and quietly envy you.  I'm sure it is a lot of work to maintain it, but well worth it - the rose is stunning - well, to be honest, the whole garden is stunning.  You must love it.

There always are plenty of weeds, you'll never win against them.  I always mulch with heaps of newspaper, topped with cardboard topped with about 10cm of lucerne and the beggars still get through.  If they were lovely, exotic plants that you desperately wanted to grow they wouldn't stand a chance against that sort of mulch, but somehow those blessed weeds still manage to show their pesky heads!!  I guess it gives us something to do - we would be bored otherwise wouldn't we????

Looks lovely, Gert.  I'll think about posting an image of my weeds one day - that should really make everyone jealous!
