I made a silverside and while the recipe itself smelled awesome in the kitchen (is the Breville crockpot recipe), the silverside (corned beef) came out a beautiful pink; could only be enjoyed by slicing it very finely; otherwise the meat was chewy.

I did not have to throw it out; as minimizing food wastage I am passionate about

Being a newbie, it is always great to ask for help and obtain first hand knowledge...

Thank you in advance with any suggestions and specific links will be appreciated too! :)

Cheers! Joanne

DH said it was GREAT...him also enjoying was a bonus too...

Look forward to heaps more postings, sharing, asking questions, commenting on other people's posts from me! :)

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Taste Tandoori help?
« on: September 11, 2013, 03:38:26 am »
I have posted my question there, but all the ingredients are in the blender and need a quick reply if possible

As I am still learning, doesn't this need to be ground first before cooked?

Thank you!

Here's the Tandoori mix for you.
2 cloves garlic
2 chillies (I only use 1)
1 onion
2 tablespoons olive oil
1cm fresh ginger, peeled
juice 1 lime
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
cayenne to taste
pinch each of sumac and saffron
2 tablespoons paprika for colour
2 tablespoons tumeric
70g tomato paste
100g greek yogurt

Place all ingredients into bowl and saute 3 minutes at 100 degrees on speed 3. Leave to cool.
Add yoghurt and cook for 2 minutes on 100 on speed 1.

This in then ready to be used on chicken. I don't use it all in one go, and keep the rest in the fridge. I try to use the leftovers within a couple of weeks.

Introduce Yourself / Newbie from South Australia
« on: August 14, 2013, 10:03:18 am »
G'day! I am VERY new to Thermomix but have been doing A LOT of research, have attended the WONDERFUL Cooking with Varoma (which I shared the experience on my blog)

I had my first Thermomix Play Date (which I also shared) and in September, I will be loaned a Thermomix to see what recipes I can make, create and back based on my specific food lifestyle.

I don't see a lot of recipes that use Xyltiol which is part of my food lifestyle. Stevia is way to sweet for me. Natvia does not break down in most recipes like the company's Xylitol I use.

I will be looking to learn more and sharing my experiences along the way, but would love to see if anyone here uses recipes made with Xylitol. I did see Jo uses it rarely.

I cannot use dates, figs, honey, agar agar as sweeteners. I limit white potato, rice, etc., so it should be a great challenge for me!

Cheers! Joanne
