Noted thank you Chookie 8) Tank loaves used to be everywhere, but hardly see them now. Must keep an eye out for a tank tin while I'm looking for a baguette tin  :)

That loaf looks tasty Gayle. Did you put lots of seeds etc in for the muesli 'stuff' ?
I'm quite taken with this recipe Cookie. It's a small, heavyish loaf but It's so versatile and consistent. I've made it many times and I don't think I've made the same loaf twice. But they have all disappeared very quickly. Ones with dried fruits, nuts, seeds are lovely toasted with jam, or with banana, cinnamon and honey on top. You can sub water for most of the milk it seems. The latest one just had sunflower seeds and pepitas with hardly any milk (the fridge was looking bare lol) and it was nice with scrambled eggs, tomato and spinach. I can't remember if I have put coconut in any of the loaves and I just put a tiny pinch of salt.

Congratulations Chookie and DH. Enjoy your special celebration.

Thank goodness we are having some cooler days here. Those 40+ days were pretty stressful, but all the chooks survived. The vege patch, grass and some of the flower garden plants didn't  :-)) Oh well. Probably time for some new plants anyway  :)

Love that tank loaf tin and the loaf Chookie. We often had those when I was a child. Wonder why they went out of fashion?
Your daughter's collegues must love you Cookie  :)
Lol I reckon. Looks delish Cookie.
Mab those muffins look great
They both look nice Margaret, did you convert the Best Recipe to the Thermomix?
I was wondering that too.
I have been making an oat loaf for breakfast and a savoury mince based on brown rice for family dinners. it's so easy and healthy. I don't know where I got the savoury mince recipe from and Mr Google can't seem to find it  :-\ I'll post it here if anyone is interested.
I'm trying to eat more oats (never liked porridge  :( )  Have done many variations on loaf and it all seems to work. Forgotten how to do nice hidden links so here's the oat loaf: https://www.recipecommunity.com.au/breads-rolls-recipes/oat-loaf-easy-healthy-and-can-be-glutenwheatdairy-and-egg-free/th5lr9fj-af63a-380597-cfcd2-iqjrbsrw.

It's warming up here so the slow cooker is doing dinner. Slow cooked chicken and veg.

Nice Mab. The ones you grow yourself are the very best.

Happy New Year all!
Well I got to watch the local fireworks from our balcony, watched a bit of tele and then started collecting family members from local parties from about 2am this morning :-)) Today will be a busy one as it's time to pack away Christmas for another year. Might do some cooking if the temp stays below 30 degrees.

Djinni, I always line bread tin or pots with 2 layers of baking paper. I don’t think it is a problem if it goes crispy around the edges. Just tip the bread out. I use the same paper  2 or 3 times. You could also use brown paper.
Thanks Chookie. Will give this a go.

Jams and Chutneys / Re: Strawberry Liqueur Conserve

Love this. So easy and so good! A little splash of liqueur in sparkling mineral water with ice is lovely (i'm not a fan of sweet drinks) and the jam is fabulous! Thanks for bumping this one Marina  :)

Checking out what you girls have been up to in the kitchen is always fun and inspiring.
I've found a recipe for an oat bread so I'm going to give that a go this coming week.
Made more black bread today but I'm still having trouble with it sticking to the loaf tin. I broke a spatula easing the sides of the loaf away from the tin :-)). I'm trying to avoid lining the tin with baking paper as the loaf is cooked at 200 degrees for an hour and 40 mins and the baking paper tends to go brown and brittle at the top. Eeeww. Next thing I'm going to try is lining the tin with lots of seeds or maybe rolled oats. Any suggestions would be much appreciated  :)

Good morning all.
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Despite the heat I did a lot of cooking, and we all did a lot of eating and drinking!
Denise I saw a news article on the nasty weather in the UK. It's hard to comprehend when you are watching the tele with sweat dripping off you ;D Hope you are in a nice cosy spot.
We are having a massive declutter here. It started with the DD clearing out her room. Then the boys decided that it was time for them to do the same. Since DH is away, I thought this might be a good time for me to do some decluttering as well. What a mess  :o  :-[  I have two rooms full of stuff. What to do with it all  :-\ :-\ :-\  It's going to be a very busy start to the new year sorting this lot out.

I hope your ankle is back in good working order Chookie.
Sounds like fun times ahead for you Cookie.
Well done Michele. A girl can never have too many pairs of shoes or handbags. ;D
I have just treated myself to some of my favourite fragrance - Sisley's eau de campagne - at 30% off. That was the first time I've seen it on sale! I've also ordered a Tmx slide and a bread knife with a wooden guide from the Alice Alexandra shop.

I have now done all my shopping for both gifts and food. After yesterday I'm not going anywhere near a shop until we run out of something important, which will not happen for at least 5 or 6 days all going well. The traffic near the shopping centres here is wicked and the supermarkets are ridiculously busy. Off to Bikram yoga this arvo and maybe I'll treat myself to a new yoga mat for Christmas.

It does look very nice Gayle but what the heck are you doing baking bread in such hot weather??!!
When things get crazy busy I make lists and try to get through as much as possible in a day  :P We had also run out of bread so I had to buy or bake. Chose bake as similar breads are very expensive to buy and the DD is getting very fussy. I love having 2 ovens. The small one is just big enough to bake a loaf of bread or a cake or a few muffins so it doesn't heat up the house too much.
Gorgeous pav Chookie and Cookie that swiss roll is awesome. Did you use the recipe on here?
Thankyou to all the wonderful members that contribute so much time and are generous with their recipes.  :D
Ditto. I have learnt so much here and now make things that I never dreamed of. I can hardly wait to try the strawberry liqueur and conserve :D
