Chit Chat / How long have you had your TMX/TC?
« on: January 18, 2012, 01:43:01 am »
Hi all, just wondering how long these wonderful machines last? How long have you had yours, and has it required any maintenance/repairs in that time?
Might also be a useful thread for those who are contemplating buying one.

Chit Chat / Have to leave Thermie...
« on: December 22, 2011, 10:13:38 am »
... how will I cope? Driving to Adelaide tomorrow to spend Xmas with family which means leaving TMX behind for a week, and just when we were getting to know each other! At least Thermie will be with us in spirit on the road in the form of ham & cheese scrolls and Xmas cookies - thank you, Thermie! Very happy with the ham & cheese scrolls, had to whip up a 2nd batch today (while working from home... shhhh) because the first one went so quickly - result!
The Indian cookbook will be my present from Santa so at least I can plan some meals while I'm away.
Merry Xmas to all - look forward to reading about your festive cooking successes when I return.

Chit Chat / Menu planning apps?
« on: December 12, 2011, 11:34:43 am »
Hi all, in my wanderings in this forum I've seen people mention various apps they use for menu planning, recipes, shopping lists etc. I rely heavily on my iPhone to keep me organised and was wondering if anyone can recommend an app that keeps track of recipes to try and links the ingredients to a shopping list? For instance, I keep bookmarking recipes from this forum to print out and try later, or I see a recipe then later can't remember where I found it! I try to do a 'rough' weekly menu plan and shopping list as I only have time to do 1 big weekly shop so there's not much chance of 'impulse' cooking around here... if an ingredient ain't in the pantry or fridge, then we have to have something else !  ;)
So, any ideas on something that can tell me what I'm cooking this week, and what I have to buy to make it? ;D

Hi all, I'd like to take my TMX to a BBQ on Sunday because a couple of friends want their husbands to see it (I should be a demonstrator  :D). But I'm worried about taking it in the car - I know there's a carry bag but this is a once off thing so just wondering if & how I can take TMX for a short 15min drive without damaging anything? I don't have the styrofoam it came in anymore and the kids have used the box for a cat cubby (as you do), although I might be able to salvage it.....
Should I risk it?

Hi all, I'm sure this has been answered elsewhere so if someone could point me in the right direction I'd be grateful. We're a small family and my kids can be a bit fussy about anything 'new'; my consultant advised me not to 'tweak' recipes to start with (I'm a newbie) which is fine for foods that can be frozen but tonight I'm left with a huge amount of risotto that the kids won't eat  >:(. I'm not keen on freezing risotto so wondering if anyone has any tips on halving (or more) recipes? The EDC mushroom risotto quantity was about 3 times more than I needed.
Meantime I'll be eating risotto for lunch for a week  :) - good thing it's yummy!

Introduce Yourself / Clearing the decks...
« on: November 29, 2011, 05:59:03 am »
Well my TMX arrives on Saturday, so in the meantime I have;
- emptied the freezer of any 'dodgy' items thereby freeing up my containers for yummy TMX meals
- ditto with the pantry, making space for whole ingredients
- put in an order with my tupperware consultant for more containers for the pantry/freezer
- made a space on my counter for 'The Wiz' (as it shall be known)
- started making ice cubes for sorbet
- bought ingredients for stock, hommus and butter chicken for my first attempts
- cautiously bought small-ish amount of bread flour as have NEVER made bread before
- bought herbs & some salad vegies to plant in the garden
- bookmarked a whole heap of websites/recipes which I've found on this forum, which is excellent by the way!
Let me see, have I forgotten anything?

About me - I'm a single time poor mum with 2 DD's who is hoping the TMX will lift me out of my cooking lethargy and inspire me to cook healthier and more often. What is really great is that 2 of my friends also ordered a TMX from the same demo (although mine is arriving first tee hee) so hopefully we can egg each other on to try lots of new things.
See you around!
