Maddy, how gorgeous is that cake.  Your decoration skills are something to be proud of and I'm sure your dear Mum will love it. Happy birthday to her.

Maddy that looks too good to eat.   I can't believe that you made those roses, they look so real.

Hope your mother has/had a great birthday.

That cake is absolutely beautiful - well done.  ;D

Today I've been mostly baking - a white sandwich loaf and 2 loafs of mushroom bread.  I attempted the mushroom bread a couple of days ago but it was with limited success, I made a few amendments and tried it again today.  I made a sponge for the first attempt and "refreshed it" for this one, so I'm expecting a very tasty loaf!  I'll try and post the recipe - converted of course!

I also made brownies but I think my oil is "off" and they tasted funny - they've gone straight in the bin sadly, but I'll have another go tomorrow or Tuesday.  We had a big fat roast chicken dinner this evening but that was non tmx so doesn't count!  The remainders of the chicken will become croquettes for Tuesday's dinner

LOL.....I didn't make the roses, they are real  ;)  thanks for your lovely comments.

A  new little store has opened up close by, and she runs cake decorating classes!  She teaches decorating at the local college, and now has her own business too.
I have booked in for 1 class at this stage,  in a week or so....and I will learn how to make 4 types of flowers out of fondant, and putting a spray together for a cake.
I love this sort of thing, so I'm quite excited.
She also will run a class for anything your interested in doing.

Mums cake was a design from the Crabapple Bakery Book (so I can't take the design credit  ;)), it's a wonderful book which I do recommend, and all the recipes have been just divine!

I hope so Chookie  ??? I do still have my Mums comments of "We'll never eat all that!"......."You'll have to take some home!".....after the initial thank-you  :-X
Sort of getting accustomed to that.

A very happy birthday to your Mum Maddy. I'm sure she is a very special lady. Your cake was beautiful.

The Crabapple bakery book is really good, I even love just looking through it.

Gorgeous cake Maddy.
Hope your mum enjoyed her birthday.

Today I have made pancakes and in the fridge I have some chicken marinating for KFC chicken tonight.
Will also make some sort of salad to go with the chicken.
That's 3/4 of the family sorted!
Now what am I going to make for me :-\

Cream of Celery soup,  but used coconut oil to make roux.   Gave it a nice understated coconut flavour.  Made Rara's Cherry bites for the Dental Surgery where my daughter works.  A special request from the staff. ;D ;D ;D

I've just made Rara's Cherry Bites as well.  I think mine were just a wee bit too large as we could only eat half a any one time, but they were a huge hit with everyone.
