Cookie and Kathryn,  maybe a beer supplies shop may have some.   The last lot I bought was a 'Simply No Knead" product.  I bought it from a Gourmet food shop.   It is cheaper in the Health food stores.

ha ha Chookie I just had that idea this afternoon and was coming here to post it - see great minds and all that  :D :D

Good idea,  except the malt is liquid so will need to make Ovaltine liquid, Hestonfan.

HI Chookie

The biscuits were delish- I made a few substitutions due to lack of exact ingredients in my larder, and they were great!
I used 2 Tbsp of Ovaltine
Instead of condensed milk I used 1/2 cup whole fat dried milk powder
to make up for the lack of liquid I used 1 Tbsp maple syrup and 1 Tbsp water.

Half of the batch has been demolished already! Thank you for this recipe  :-* :-*

H ;D ;Destonfan,  I just love what you have done to the original  malt biscuit recipe.  Looks like the basic recipe can be adapted to whatever we have in the pantry.

Well Chookie, inspired by hestonfan and with Bron's (miss her!!) words of "never let not having an ingredient stop you from making a recipe" ringing in my ears, I searched my cupboards and came up with a tin of Malted Milk Powder!!!

So two heaping tablespoons of MMP mixed with 1 tablespoon of hot water and I had (sort of lol) a malt syrup  :D :D :D

Made the biscuits up and they are a hit (though passable on the malt flavour - definitely malty but they would like it more so)

Good try Faffa70.   What would happen if you mixed MMP with maple syrup?

Turn out nice.  Not very consistent with the thickness, but the thicker one taste nicer.

Denzelmum,  I use a small icecream scoop for all my biscuits and they are pretty consistent.  Yhey therefore all cook in the same time,  although i do turn them around half way through.
