Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / Ketupat recipe from A Taste of Asia.

I've recently made this ketupat from the "Taste of Asia " cookbook & it didn't really work at all. The rice is coarsely ground, then cooked with 1 litre of water as you would whole rice. The water & steam didn't seem to penetrate the rice & therefore it remained raw even though I cooked it much longer than the recipe stated. Has anyone else had this problem? Should I grind less? Or maybe put more than the litre of water.

I carry it to & from our apartment & our bush house & thought it had been knocked in the car(inside its case). My clever hubbie looked at it for me & after some careful easing of the lid from the right side location switch, we realised that it had not been completely turned off & the location switch had locked the jug in place! Scary as,like all of us, I am in a Chrissy cooking fest. After I relaxed & got back into cooking I though it was an interesting discovery & might be useful info for someone else who got into this situation.
