CHRISTMAS / Re: What's on your Christmas 'must make' list?
« on: December 02, 2013, 09:25:09 am »
For nibbles you can't go past Julieo's spiced nuts. They make great gifts too, I'll be making some to give to teachers again this year. Sorry I'm on the iPad and can't link to the thread...

Bumping this. Made it yesterday, substituting about a 1/3rd of chocolate with dark choc - yum!
Newbies - enjoy!

We're finally having some nice weather in Melbourne, yay! So I put a "screen ban" on the kids and made them help me with some gardening. Garden is so overgrown, made a start but still loads to do and nowhere to put the cuttings etc as my council doesn't do regular green waste collection :(. Time to outsource methinks! Then we put up the Xmas tree a day early - normally do it on the 1st December but DD is busy tomorrow. Walked the dog, then dusted off the bikes and went for a ride. Now I'm putting my feet up and resting my sore behind - hate those bike seats!

We put the tree up today and my SS present is looking very lonely sitting under there all by itself. I'm going to hold off opening it for a little while longer, just to keep you all in suspense!
I hope my SS recipient got their pressie....

Woke up to the sound of heavy rain this morning, not what you want to hear on the day of the school fair! Luckily there were only a few showers during the day with sunshine in between, so all went well. Hopefully they made lots of money, there were certainly a lot of people around and I was kept very busy in the bar. We ran out of bottled beer and kept running out of champagne glasses - a good time was had by all! Then my in laws came over for a BBQ - they brought the food because they knew I'd be busy. My SIL from Adelaide is visiting her mother and it's her birthday today which is why they insisted on catching up today. All in all a good day, bit tired now...

Great shopping everyone. My Alyce Alexandra cookbook has arrived but I've only had time for a quick look through it. Liking what I see so far, must go to the thread on here and check the reviews.

Poor you. How was the dinner at Guy Grossi's?

We had a set menu Cookie and all of the choices were very rich! I had ravioli, sea bass and a citrus tart type thing for dessert. These were the lightest choices and it was all very nice, but no way I could eat all my main particularly as they gave us nibbles at the start. We'd been fed very well at the hotel during the day as well - bit over food at the moment!

I didn't realise you were in Melbourne Cookie, sounds like you & DD are having a ball.
I'm pooped after attending a 2 day seminar for work - all that networking gets pretty tiring! Nice surroundings though - the seminar was held at the grand old Windsor Hotel, with breakfast, lunch, morning & afternoon tea laid on. Then we had dinner at Grossi Florentino last night which was very nice - amazing service, although staff kept calling me signorina which was a hoot! Early night tonight, busy weekend coming up.... and I've realised I've got another breakfast to attend on Monday morning. It's all work, work, work here! :)

Darn, can't seem to load a picture. I'm not opening mine yet, still seems too early for Xmas! Thanks to my SS, who posted my parcel from a picturesque town in the Adelaide Hills  ;)

Swimming lessons this morning (for the kids not me), then went to school for another 2nd hand clothes sorting session. School fair is in 2 weeks but I'm taking it easy this year. Apart from helping out with sorting clothes all I'm doing on the actual day is working in the bar for 3-4 hours. They get a keg donated so they need helpers who can pour a beer - the bar co-ordinator books me early each year since it's just me & 1 other guy who can work the beer tap! Fun though - I get to see everyone & report back to the wives on how many beers hubby has had!

I make hommus all the time, kids love it as an after school snack. I always add cummin.
