Hi DJ

What about making things ready for Christmas, I used to make things with my kids a very long time ago and before that I was a pre primary aid and worked with little kids 8 years before I had my own, so used to do a lot of craft work with them and then when I had my own kids I had lots of ideas, some of them are as follows:

paper place mats 1 for each person at the table with a Christmas theme

napkin holders either out of fabric or with paper, I only just gave them away last week otherwise I would have attached a photo, but I have rung my friend that I gave them to and she is going to take a photo of them when she gets home and when she does I will post it, but it wont be until later this evening.
My kids both boys absolutely loved this
We made Santa's with beards and hats out of felt to make napkin holders, I made a template, the kids cut them out, they used fabric paint to paint faces. You could do this just as easily with paper.

We made lolly bags to put a treat in for everyone at the table either out of paper or material, even boys love to sew when it is something special

Name place settings

Handmade Christmas tree decorations, with paper, painting and cutting.

Christmas menus (what the kids are going to make) and serve
maybe a menu for what they are going to put out for Santa

Christmas cards

Letters to Santa and/or Rudolph

If you have available paper, scissors, crayons or pencils textas or paint get the kids to make their own glue with cornflour and water they can make so much.

Door hangings (Posters but long ones, paper joined) for Christmas

Finger knitting for decorations for the Christmas tree, this keeps them busy for ages - sometimes weeks - they go back to it to be able to get a long length to put on the tree.

Christmas cookies with lots of different coloured icing.

I am getting nostalgic, it has been a very long time since I did anything like this with my kids as they are both grown up and moved away, and it doesn't look like either of them are going to have children any day soon.

Hope some of my ideas help.

KimmyH, I have my ebooks on both ipad and android tablet and they all read well, but to read an epub or mobi (kindle), on a PC you need to download a program to view them, I haven't bothered as the iPad has a fantastic - if not the best ebook reader in my opinion.

I went to the hairdresser today, and Braandi took my place at work, Grumpy sent this photo to me while I was having my hair done.
His comment was, she is getting more done than you do.

My friend was a heavy smoker - 2 packs a day and DIDN'T want to give up. Her husband gave up due to health reasons and she still didn't want to give up, I am not sure what changed her mind, but she went to a session for about 4 hours, she insists was not hypnotism but I think it was, she hasn't smoked for over 5 months now and has not had a single smoke since she came out of the session. I think it cost about $500 and am not sure how much a pack of cigarettes is but her husband thought the cost was worth it.
Hope you do well.

She gets lovely dinners, just not in restaurants, they don't want her.
I'm sure your bark isn't as loud as hers or annoying.

Thankyou, she is a sweetie, she goes everywhere with us except to the shops and when we go out for meals.

I am not going to tell her she is a dog, because I don't think she would agree.

She's a cavoodle by the way, beautiful nature, doesn't shed but can be a little naughty and bark at people.

Hi VieveMS, I read the same blog a while ago and they gave great info on sous vide cooking, I haven't tried it though as I have a grumpy thermomix hater and only cook stuff that he won't know that it was cooked in it.

Chit Chat / Re: New kitchen, help with choosing appliances!
« on: November 19, 2012, 10:06:49 am »
We are building a new house, currently I have a 900mm oven and it is great, but in the new house I wanted a double oven, however after speaking with our appliance supplier, he told me that a double oven is not the way to go if I wanted more cooking space as the second oven even if the same size, is generally only a grill or warmer. He told me the best way to go is to have 2 of the same ovens one on top of the other and all that has to happen is the cabinetmaker outs a shelf to sit the top oven on, he explained that with the 2 ovens together the fascia is only mm's apart so it looks like a double oven, I have taken his advice and that is the way I am going to go. :)

Chit Chat / Re: What is for Lunch Today
« on: November 19, 2012, 09:56:47 am »
That's sensible JD and better for you to have your main meal during the day, you can work it off. LOL

I have leftovers for lunch but we eat our main meal about 4-4.30 pm as we are up at 4 in the morning, Grumpy is hungry by then. because he WON"T have any lunch, he will eat fruit at work but not much else, not so bad except he then gets the munchies about 6.30 - 7pm and we are in bed by 9pm at the latest.
