Hi all, just wondering how long these wonderful machines last? How long have you had yours, and has it required any maintenance/repairs in that time?
Might also be a useful thread for those who are contemplating buying one.
-
Deedub, I have had mine for 3 years and 3 months and have only had to have it taken away once whilst still under the 2 year warranty. As long as there are spare parts available for this model, you can expect it to last a very long time. Somewhere on the forum, someone said they were still using theirs produced in the 80's - a much more basic model but it speaks highly of the quality of these machines.
-
I have had mine for 4 1/2 years and been a consultant for 2 1/2 years. I have the one machine and it does all my work for my family and also all my demo work ;D
-
mine is 2 1/2 years old. My Mum has a TM21 which is older.

I have had mine for 12 months, No problems here at all. I also have a second bowl and blade set and they get used pretty much every day and I cook for a family of 7.
-
I have had Stephanie since August 2009 ( which fed our family and i used for demonstrating until George arrived) and George since August 2010 ( which i now use primarily for denstarting but also use at home when cooking lots) and the baby (toy Thermomix that was gifted to my boys by my group leader, they are so lucky!!) since April 2011. I don't think I will be getting another in 2012 lol
-
:D You've got the wole family Meagan! Saw the toy TMX on the french website while looking at the price for a second bowl- good marketing idea!
I've ony had my Zumbo since June 2011: no pb so far. Fingers X

No problems and I'm going into my third year. The extra bowl is great, and I'm getting ready to get another bowl so I have 3 bowls to play with.
-
My Thermomix turns one next week.
Delivered by my consultant on Australia Day :)
-
You'll never forget that birthday Katie ;D

I have had thermie working flat out for just over a year cooking for a family of 5 including three teenagers. Still absolutely awestruck by what it can do. And now I'm getting a second bowl. Happy happy happy!!!

I bought my Thermo chef about a month ago. I'm really loving it and using it constantly. Today I've made bread rolls, strawberry jam, smoothies and a creamy spinach pasta sauce for dinner. I'm having a ball trying new things all the time. I can see myself getting lots of use out of it. I haven't used my mixmaster or food processor since I got it. The only other appliance I have used is my stab mixer to beat up a small amount of cream.
-
I have had mine for 2 1/2 years , but its real life is probably 10 years of use. For the last 2 days it hasn't stopped from 9 to 5.
-
I've been TMXing for 3 years now. Since buying my 1st, we've also bought 2 more for DD's as 21st presents cos they are also addicted. The work "Thermomix" is mentioned at least 100 times a day in our house :D
-
My TMX turned 1 the week before Christmas. I think I may have got my second jug & blade set near Easter last year. I didn't last that long before I realised that I needed another.
-
2 months and 2 days.
Poor TC has been in use daily since he arrived. Sceptical DH is sold on it totally now.
He loves the icecream and bread I make with it most I think.

Most people are sceptical. ButI real .ly feel most sorry for those people who live out of boxes in the supermarket freezer section. If only they knew how easy it is to have a lovely meal cooked from wholesome ingredients every night. Even a child could put a decent meal on the table.
-
Absolutely CP,
Am taking Hubby to a back to basics demo on Saturday. We both love to cook although DH is a little daunted by thermomix.
-
I have had Thermie and Roma since 7th December 2010. Although I din't use it much to begin with, but once i found this forum, it has been given a real workout ;D The best kitchen appliance I have ever bought. Could not live without it now.

Mine is 15 months. Had one drama while kneading bread and crying baby, I picked up DS upstair and TMX fell down from the bench. Lucky it still under warranty and had it back within 5 days. Learning hard way, but loving it! DH is into sourdough and start using TMX as well.
-
Oh denzelmum I can can just imagine the feeling at that moment when you realized what had happened. Good thing it was still under warranty.

Wow what happened to it? I am surprised it was repaired under warranty because I thought that sort of thing wasn't covered as it is accidental :0

It was hanging, not quite touch the floor and I was unable to open the lid. Made phone call to consultant and she referred me to the customer service. When hubby get home he managed to open and we post it to the technician. They had a quick look and returned within couple days luckily nothing major. Phew...

So lucky it didn't hit the floor!! I caught mine half way off the bench about 4 months after I first had mine. I haven't turned/walked away from my Tm when kneading bread since!!
-
Yeh it's a real concern that we all need to remember not to leave or TMs while kneading. Really it's only a couple of minutes we need to be close by for just in case.
-
I really can't remember how long I've had mine but it must be over 2 years now as I know I went to a Christmas cooking class but it wasn't this Christmas just gone - how the time flys when you are having fun. Even though I'm not the main cook in our house at the moment becasue of work commitments it still gets used at least once every day. I'm a green smoothie convert and really struggle when I'm travelling not having my smoothie first thing in the morning, I couldn't do it without the TMX.
-
Had mine for about one and a half years. Was still under warranty when I had problems after one year, the heating element went. It was repaired and working well now
-
I'm coming up 3 years in April. Am still madly in love with my machine and use it everyday for almost everything. :)
-
i bought my TM 2 1/2 years ago and i wish i had one earlier than that. love it. a friend bought a TC before christmas thinking that it would be the same, but is having trouble with it now. she has trouble kneading bread, and having to reset the settings each time she want to check it is driving her nuts. the butterfly broke (?); does this sound right?
who has both and can give an objective opinion?
-
Had my TMX 4 years.
It has had a new motor and new scales, recently... the cost of repair was $380 which I was happy with.
The fault was mine - I dropped it on something not long after I got it and the rim dented. This meant it leaked. I did not realise that was a problem for the machine until it recently stopped. The liquid had been running down the back, under the machine, up the vents and into the motor, as well as up through the holes in the feet to the scales. The repairer fixed the rim, so now there are no leaks and it runs like new!

Was the repairer someone from Vorwerk?
-
I'm surprised it lasted that long before you had problems greenie. Well worth the cost to get it back to normal.
-
my consultant said that usually if anything goes wrong, it's due to user error; good to know, isn't it?
-
DD dented my first bowl (purely an accident). Can you get it fixed greenie? I just bought a new bowl and use that one only occasionally.

It depends how badly it is dented Cookie. I have had customers in the past who are handy use a soft cloth and pliers to gently bend the dent back into place. Sometimes though it can make the problem worse. It is up to each person to decide what to do keeping in mind that bowls being dropped are not covered by the warranty and neither is home handy person repair ;)
HO don't repair dented bowls as far as I understand.
-
Yes, repaired at TM head office here in Perth :) I thought it was pretty reasonable and yes, lasted ages considering.
When it first happened, I took it in and they gave me a new seal but said they couldn't do anything about the dent. However, Stuart? managed to fix the dent this time as well as giving me a new seal.
It's so nice to have the head office of something in Perth! Makes a nice change :) I feel for anyone who has to send theirs away and wait for it to be returned - even a day without my TMX seems like a lifetime!
-
Well there you go! He is so lovely :)
