Jams and Chutneys / Re: Spiced rhubarb chutney

I would definitely remove the MC for the last cooking period which will aid in the thickening process.  I love the sound of the recipe but can you tell me what you have eaten it with and how much it makes approximately?

I find woolies/safeway home brand much better than cadbury's - very dark and much richer flavour and half the price.

Main Dishes / Re: KFC Coating ...... revisited

I made these over the weekend with 1kg fillets chopped into relatively small pieces (approx 6 per fillet) which we deep fryed for approximately 4-5mins each and they came out lovely. We had a enough for 4 adults and 4 kids with chips and a couple of salads. Unfortunately while everyone thought it tasted great they didn't think it tasted like KFC :-[ to me it tasted like I may have ended up with too much pepper in the mix.

Thanks Maddie, I've had a lot of success with the cake pops (thanks mostly to the tips on the taste website) but have only used white chocolate which I've been colouring and adding copha to. I was curious about the lamingtons as in my mind the mixture would be too dry without the addition of any ganache, cream cheese or buttercream - I'll give them a go.

Hi Maddie, the cake pops look great. Can you tell me what, if anything you mixed with the jam lamingtons and also do you mix copha with your chocolate for dipping? Thanks, Nadine

Is there any chance you could PM this recipe? I love coleslaw but can never seem to make a really good batch.
Thanks, Nadine

Thanks, Nadine

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Do you think if i made savoury scrolls I could make them to the point of filling cutting and putting on trays tonight and then put into the fridge overnight before the second proving. In the morning before going to the gym I could take them out of the fridge leave in a warm spot for the 112/2 hrs I'm out, and then pop in the oven to cook once I return?

Judy - they don't have to be hot but someone else is already making dips so they are out.

Chit Chat / HELP - Easy Savoury suggestions for morning tea needed
« on: May 18, 2010, 02:32:31 am »
Hi,  my workplace is participating in the World's Biggest morning tea for cancer research tomorrow and I've been begged to bring a savoury dish.  I won't have much time in the morning, so ideally would like to prepare and even cook the dish tonight and then just reheat in the morning wrap snugly in foil and present at 10am. Does anyone have some easy suggestions (apart from mini quiches)??

Thanks, Nadine

Thanks Quirky Jo, if I'm using spelt flour instead of grain do I add the same quantity but just not blend for as long?  Also I'm assuming I can just make a half quantity without having to change to much?

Main Dishes / Re: Soy Sauce Chicken in the Varoma
« on: May 12, 2010, 10:48:26 pm »
Becforwood, I also had the exact same problem as you when cooking this dish.  I also made it in the early days of having my TMX and think the problem was that the full chicken was covering the majority of the steam holes so the steam was actually coming out the sides of the varoma rather than being trapped inside.  I think my chicken was probably bigger than 1.3kgs and was too big to successfully cook. The dish did taste lovely from memory but after all the fussing not one I have gone back to.
