You won't regret buying a slowcooker Gert.
Love love mine, the poor thing cost me $30 4.5years ago, gets used generally about 4 times/week, and it is still going strong! An essential part of my kitchen!
As for SS - I got something in the mother's day sales rto put aside for SS

Well I usually do my slow cooking in the oven but started thinking that the slow cooker might be cheaper to run that the over for several hours. Now I have to learn how to use it.

Arrrrgh....I want to go shopping too!!
Love the snack boxes, Maddy. Gert, I've got my slow cooker sitting in the cupboard looking very forlorn. Please share your wisdom as you learn how to use your slow cooker

Gert just remember slow cookers don't need too much liquid. To cook a leg of lamb half a cup of water cook on slow for 8 hours

After reading the book and some of the recipes provided I am disappointed. I thought you just chucked it all in but this book says to brown the meat, then the vegetables etc. if I wanted to be bothered using a fry pan and the slow cooker I would not have bothered.
There must be better recipes so now looking on web.

The browning is for extra flavour Gretchen, you can skip that step in a lot of the recipes. I think the recipe books which come with these appliances are pretty poor.
