Chit Chat / Re: What have you been doing today?

Thanks for all the good wishes. It has turned very cold here. Drab sort of day. I’m making Lamb shank , barley and veggie soup. Then I’ve found a ‘ Stonesoup’ ( blog) for Zucchini falafel. I bought a Beetroot dip which wasn’t very nice, so might turn this also onto falafels.
The leftover Butter chicken that we had on Sunday has 2 meals left. That worked out at $2 a serve, with brown rice and veggies. The veggies were free and the rice was one of those 90 second microwave pouches.

Just catching up. Cookie well done with the diabetes test. KAtie, sorry to hear about the COVID. I’m adjusting to my new life but get incredibly tired. Not surprising. I’m having the first Cataract done on Thursday and a friend is coming to stay for a few days. I’m looking forward to the visit. She also has a TMX but doesn’t use it as much as she could, so we will be doing some cooking.

Leftovers with extra veggies. Next door neighbours gave me a box of homegrown veggies. I think there is an informal swap happening in this new neighbourhood. I have been making jam , and giving it to neighbours, and it would seem that I have therefore been included.

Cookie, I love the look of the Kringle. Well done.
Yesterday was my DS birthday. We had an informal family get together. I cooked Chicken in butter sauce which I bought in a packet from the Supermarket. It was boneless and very nice. I steamed veggies in the Varoma and served with brown rice. I also made a berry and apple crumble. They bought a box of small biscuits and cakes from Brunettis in Lygon St.

Going to DD’s for roast lamb dinner. I’m taking the roast veggies and a mix of home grown tomatoes and zucchini’s.
While there I’ll pick some Rhubarb.

What fun Cookie.
Like Marina, I have been eating nibbles rather than proper meals. Yesterday a friend came with cheese scones from Bakers delight. I called this lunch. So decided to cook myself a proper dinner. Made Norwegian fish cake and salad.

Yesterday I had the first day completely to my self. I cooked, read and did Wordle. It was nice. I had been invited to go to the Farmers Market with next door neighbours but declined.
Today, more jam. Raspberry this time. I collected up tired looking apples , plums and nectarines, cook them all in the TMX and strained the liquid to make the base for the raspberries.
Also making SD crumpets. 4 cups of starter makes16 to 18 crumpets.

I enjoy cooking for the kids Chookie, they have a healthy appetite and it keeps me from forgetting how to cook altogether.
I can relate to that.

Marina, I loved the list that you put together for Mab. The roasted mushrooms reminds me of one that I used to make. Similar ingredients but not baked. I also liked the Mexican Bean recipe but too many carbs for me.
Tonight, grilled fish and veggies.

Cookie, I can’t understand someone throwing out that cake. There certainly is a problem there. Love the look of that bread.
Mab, happy Birthday to your GD.
I was given a shopping bag of lemons. After sharing some with neighbours, I made Lemon and carrots marmalade and mandarin, lemon and carrot marmalade. All in the TMX.
Also sausage rolls for GS.

Cookie, I’ve also downloaded the Maca book. Which recipe did you make? Also I am fascinated that you made that cheese.

Last night I cooked a chicken and veggie soup and added rice at the end. Made 2 meals. This cooking for one is a bit of a challenge.

Just catching up.
Marina, Anna is in Ballarat. I’m sure she would see you if I said you were a good friend. ( she is not taking any new clients )
Today I’m going with Anna when she has an appointment, in a near by town. I will window shop. ( maybe)
Yesterday I had a procedure at hospital. All ok. I’m on the move again so watch out. I made Protein Balls in the TMX to give to all the people who helped me.

I relate to the horror stories about dentists.  My DD specialises in dentistry for older scared woman and children. The word has got around and when she recently changed practises, 400 patients followed her. She is at the moment doing an extensive study course into sleep apnea.
Judy, congratulations for looking after your teeth.
