Using the Brisket to make a small cottage pie. Will mash it up in TMX. Cook homegrown potatoes for top. Just picked first handful of green beans.

KAtie, that’s good to know. GS went to pick up some friends from that event. He was worried about them in the heat. I therefore had Teddy for another night. He was unsettled, which wasn’t like him. I found out there had been some kids playing up. That was what he was barking at.

Anyone with Sunbeam 4 hole pie machine must try these. I made English Muffins from a Cookidoo recipe and cooked them in the Pie Maker. Perfect. I was testing as I want to make my SD English Muffins but was unsure about the timing. I think it will be ok. Cooked 5 minutes each side with lid down.

Didn’t make the Hot X Buns. Had to put the A/C on early as it was so hot. 24 over night. I cooked a small piece of brisket in the SC. Recipe said Beer for liquid. I didn’t have any so used 1/2 apple juice and 1/2 balsamic vinegar. Worked well.
Will make a salad with small tomatoes, watermelon, tiny zucchini from garden , chives and goat cheese. Rice and Brisket. 25

Made Cookies classic loaf. Lovely. It is good fresh and toasted. I had a ham, cheese and lettuce sandwich for lunch and a slice toasted with ham and the Mango and tomato chutney.
A friend called in, I gave her 1/2 the loaf. I’ve strained the liquid for the Apple fruit vinegar. I’ll add the sugar, cook and bottle today. Might try cooking English muffins in the pie machine. 26

KAtie, the heat didn’t help. Stay home if you can.
Neighbours invited me to go to Begonia Festival with them. I declined as too hot for me. I’m watering twice a day. A/C working well. 27

It was so hot today that some of my small tomatoes cooked on the bush.

Cookie, glad you are enjoying them.
I made 1/2 mixture of the tomato and mango chutney. It tasted of too vinegary. So I added 2 handfuls of sultanas. Cooked in TMX for 30 minutes, lid out for last 10 minutes, mixed5 seconds at speed 4. Made 3 small jars. Very nice, I’ll now make another lot. 29

Mab, cold meat sounds good. I bought some ham, now I need some fresh bread to have it on. Have been given lots of pickles and chutney. Think Cookies loaf with a bit of SD in it would be good.

Go for it Judy. As you say, perfect weather for smoothies.
The SD loves this warm weather. It’s always a challenge most of the year here. I’m just leaving it on the bench and having great fun with it. The SD crumpets are walking out the door. The SD potato cakes are also a great hit with the GC and neighbours kids. Think I might make SD Hot X Buns today. Only problem is I don’t want to use the oven on such a hot day. |
