Hi  - found this on the net but haven't tried it. . . . sounds interesting and will try it when we get our mango box later. (It's an American recipe so don't forget to convert oven temps etc.   ;)   I'm still  a comparative newbie - I'd really appreciate it if some kind soul could  suggest how this would go in the TMX?? :)

I will be happy to share.  Except I'm at work and it's at home.  I will try to remember to bring it in with me tomorrow morning.  The mangoes give it a wonderful flavor, the crust comes out nice and dark, and the acid in the mango makes the baking soda work very well so it comes out quite light as far as quick breads go.

:) We are getting bowen mangoes at 50 c
last week we got about 50-60 organic bowen mangoes for $10

Straight off the farms.

Lucky my husband drives around alot each day, and stops at roadside stalls.
Although most farms up here know us well.  I support the farmers, and they support us.

I paid $20 for a tray of R2E2 mangoes the other day. They are lovely and sweet but I am  little disappointed in the taste. I'm not that really concerned though as I love mangoes in all shapes, forms and tastes. ;)

I too have found disappointment in some mangoes I've bought.  Those in the know - which mangoes are the best for full on taste and sweetness.

The R2E2 are a waste of space but they are pretty.  Probably ok for jam but not much else.

I'm told that Calypso are the best but I think it all comes down to taste and what you are looking for in a mango. Some of the nicest I have had were green ones in Thailand.

We had a tray of R2E2 last time we were in Queensland and they were lovely. But not this time. I like the good old Kensington Pride mangoes. Full of flavour and strings. Thanks for the hint Gertbysea. They may disappear into jam.

Just learned today that Calypso mangoes are  genetically modified  and that a certain large grocery chain has refused to buy the fruit from Queensland "because they get spots" and now will only get in the Calypsos that are grown in the Northern Territory.  Qld farmers trucked their produce down to the Sydney markets only to have huge amounts go bad and needing to be thrown out. This horrifies me!

:) Goldfish, thats why I support the farmers direct, and not the big supermarkets.
We rely on Our local farmers to keep my family and 90% of our income, so I support them as much as possible.

Stop at the roadside stalls if you can.
