Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts and remarks.  7 months ago I was mostly in shock, this time, I just feel sad. Ral will keep fighting but I can see a deterioration in his ability to do things.

Made some risotto. Used pumpkin recipe from Cookidoo but.  adapted the recipe to include mushrooms and asparagus as well as roasted pumpkin cubes. It was very nice. For convenience during shift we have eaten a lot of takeaway food. Disgusting stuff.
I bought some Wangu meatballs from Aldi . Cooked in a little oil with capsicum and mushrooms, added tin of tomato and served over pasta. Quite nice.
Today will try RTE chicken in mustard sauce.
GS brought back some cheese from King Island, where he had been working. It seemed so much nicer than what we buy from the supermarket.

Great to catch up with everyone. The weather has been unreal. It is extremely cold with very gusty strong wind. The new house has good zoned heating. We are still getting used to it. Finally got the dishwasher to work. Still got too much stuff. The builder who cut the hole for the lift also did a couple of extra small jobs for us. He refused payment as RAL made him coffee each day. Iím not baking yet . Still trying to get things placed. 2 more boxes for OP shop and very full recycle bins.
GC set up big TV , printer and 2 Apple Home devices at the weekend. We are enjoying the view from the upstairs windows. Something is always happening in the park.

Not good news from Rals scan. The Cancer has grown again. Not as much as when first discovered. He will go into to hospital on Thursday to start a new round of infusions and pills. We are even closer to the hospital at our new home than we were at Invermay. One positive. The lift installation also starts on Thursday at 7 am. DD will take RAL to hospital. The Dr hopes that the new treatment will slow the Cancer down and give him a couple more months. It is 7 months since the first operation. These have been good. Sold one home and bought a new one, which we like. So any more time is a plus.

I havenít been cooking much this last week so itís lovely to see what everyone is baking. I bought some small pizza bases and added some toppings and cooked in AF. Most of the takeaway is awful. Canít wait until we are settled to start cooking. The oven switches on, so that is a good start. Canít work the dishwasher but Google will help Iím sure.
The 2 full freezer are installed in the garage. 20 minute trip and the carriers installed it immediately.

Thanks for all the feedback about the Stoma. Ral is increasing learning to cope and live with it. He has coped amazing well with the shift. He loves the new house and the view across the park. He still sleeps a bit during the day but we fit this in with what ever is happening.
The builder is coming on Monday to cut the hole for the lift. On the 21 and 22 they will fit the lift. It will go from the garage into a bedroom.
He is feeling anxious as in 2 week he will have a scan to see if  or how much cancer remains. Given, that 6 months ago he wasnít expected to survive the op, he is doing very well. He has been gradually feeling better since finishing the Chemo.
He is talking about getting a battery lawn mower to mow our 2 square inches of lawn. We will see about that.
Thanks again for all the good wishes and thanks to Judy for posting.

Thanks again for the good wishes with the shift.  I should have taken notice of Judy and Gert about downsizing yeas ago. Although we sold and gave away mountains of stuff, we still have ended up with too much for the new house.
We have been fortunate in so many ways. The carriers have been amazing. A young 18 year old and his boss, a mammoth of a man have shifted some massive pieces of furniture upstairs. DS worked all day setting up the NBN and security system, and connected it to all our devices. When someone approaches the front door a photo shows up on my phone. I can talk to whoever it is. DD and Her friend shifted all the small and fragile stuff. At 8 pm we all, carriers included, sat down among the chaos and ate a massive pile of fish, chip, calamari rings and scallops, with cordial. The carriers are coming again on Monday .
There are lots of cupboards but I can only reach the first layer. The second layer with small steps and the top layer, no way. Fortunately the garage is massive and we have shelves along one wall. There is a door that goes from garage into pantry so Iím storing less used appliances there.
Upstairs are the bedrooms and bathrooms  and a lounge area with a large window that overlooks the park. Ral spent Saturday morning watching  the Archers doing their thing,
As KATIE said, the mosquitoes are bad. With all the doors open with the shift, we have had to spray several times. Yesterday was better with cooler weather and doors closed.
On Tuesday, special carriers are coming to install RAL special bed at new home. Until then we are still staying at DD.
Today more unpacking.

Iíd love one of the RTE books. Havenít had time to do anything about it yet.
Ral has mostly recovered from his fall and is getting around much more.  Some days he looks awful. Never complains. Several more weeks before the PET scan to see what the cancer is doing. Iím now coping better at ordering the supplies for his Stoma. They are free, we pay for the postage and an annual membership fee.
We are both looking forward to our new home. We already know 7 people who will be near us. They have been very forthcoming about the advantages.

Lovely to catch up with what everyone is doing.
Yes we have also had a lot of rain. No damage as we are on a slope. Ral got the ride on mower bogged and the neighbours came to the rescue. Over coffee, I asked them what they would do for entertainment after we shifted. Ral likes to mow as it is the one thing he can do where you can see a good result.
Today, I was supposed to have a wisdom tooth removed and spend a night in hospital.  After paying all the necessary bills, the hospital said that as it wasnít an emergency I couldnít stay overnight. DD has fortunately taken things in hand and it will happen at a day center with her Oral Surgeon and she will oversee the process.
2 weeks now to the shift.  The house is nearly empty. We have given away and sold a lot of stuff. A couple more scams attempted. I can now recognise them for what they are. People have come from Bendigo, Ararat and Melbourne to buy furniture. Antique dealers from Ballarat and Hamilton.
DS is organising NBN and security cameras. We are adding Crim Safe doors and employing a joiner who will add drawers where there are open shelves in the butlers pantry. Also build a desk and bookshelves in the bedroom where the lift will go.
Sorry for such a long post but canít manage to get on very often.

After catching up on the lovely food everyone is cooking, I canít wait to settle into my new kitchen and cook.
I have managed a few things. I made some White sauce using Cookidoo, double lot of my Surprise biscuits, several loaves of bread, roasted a duck,  several lots of soup.
As there is no garden at our new house , Iíve been making minced up herb mixtures. I pick lots of herbs from the garden and mix with a little olive oil and mince in TMX. I freeze flat in sandwich  bags. When frozen, I pinch of a bit to add to soup, garlic butter anything that needs a kick.
( the carriers who we have employed to shift will take the 2 upright freezers with the food still in them. ) Iíve emptied and sold one other freezer.

Made toast in AF. Home made bread particually good.
Heat AF for 3 minutes
Place slices of bread on wire, ( buttered or not)
Check often.
Will have browned on both sides.

Update on RAL.
Ral has finished his Chemo. Unfortunately he had a nasty fall and may have cracked some ribs.  It has taken 4 weeks to get back to where he was. In a few weeks he is to have another scan to see what state the cancer is in. From what I understand, if the cancer is still there or comes back , it canít be treated with Chemo as it will have mutated. We will continue to take each day as it comes.  As the Dr reminded us last week, he really shouldnít still be with us. That was 6 months ago.
He is very much looking forward to the new house. We have checked out the local shopping center Lucas, which is in a growing area,  Very good. Also the golf course which is very close has an excellent Restaurant. We already know 5 families who live within a block of new home. One month to go for shift.

Just trying to catch up, sorry for the long gap but I havenít forgotten our Forum friends.
A month to go until settlement.  We can take only a very small amount of stuff to new home.  We have sold a lot and given away even more. 2 antique dealers have bought a lot. We have a storage unit and again will need to get rid of a lot that is in there. Ral is having more trouble than me at letting go.
We are having our very close friends visiting today for lunch.  Havenít seen them for about a year. Iíve done something I have never done before. Bought most of it. Iíve bought a dip and veggie platter from Wilsons, plus salad , cheese and slices. I did cook a loin of pork in the BBQ and finished the crackling in AF. Wilsons are having a lucky dip for a TMX. They entered me.  :D
The ducted heating/ cooling appliance broke down after the sale. As the contract has a clause that everything is to be in working order, we are replacing it. Very expensive.
Over the last couple of months Iíve emptied and sold the freezer.
The lift is to be installed in the week following our shift in. It takes 3 days to install. One to cut hole and then 5 days later to install. By law a dedicated phone must be in the lift and a house key placed in a safe box with a code outside.
I hope everyone is keeping well and the rain isnít causing any trouble.
More soon.
We are still staying with DD and will be until we shift.
