Chit Chat / PHOTOS ONLY - Secret Santa 2013 Presents
« on: December 14, 2013, 03:18:12 am »
I finally succumbed and opened my present too. I received a lovely big bread bag which I know will get lots of use, and a cookbook of celebratory recipes from Australian kitchens. Looking forward to having a thorough read of that when I have a bit more time.
Thanks so much SS, for the lovely & thoughtful gifts!

Wait, wait, back up a bit.... did I hear Gert say she has met Elvis? Am I the only one who wants details? More info please!
Nothing exciting today, worked from home which meant about 5 hours on the phone!

Xmas shopping today, nearly finished I hope - still have to do all the wrapping 😝
Have been playing phone tag all day with a housesitting agency, none of my regulars are available over Xmas, this is my last hope. Don't want to bring the dog to Adelaide!

Haven't opened mine yet either, but will do so before we go away on the 22nd. It's beginning to feel a lot like Xmas... so might open it this weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to post a pic, tapatalk has been playing up lately.

Wow indeed Mandi, not a smart caterer!
Since our weekend plans got cancelled, have been trying to catch up on "stuff". Took the kids to see the Xmas windows yesterday, we then each bought a decoration for the tree (our annual tradition). A bit of Xmas shopping in the city, then home for lunch, grocery shopping, then a friends place for dinner.
Today swimming lessons, trip to the library, washing & lots of cooking. Need to tidy the house now - cleaner coming this week!

Been having fun in the kitchen (which looks a bit like Dede's). Made chookie's chocolate delight pudding, Dede's choc chip cookies, JulieO's spiced nuts for teachers' Xmas gifts. Boring old bolognese for the freezer, and chookie's favorite quiche for tomorrow night's dinner. BBQ tonight.
Everything but the bolognese inspired by you forum lovelies 😚

I'm working from home, finished work for the day but feel a bit lost because I'm without children! One at camp, the other at a friend's house, won't be home until after dinner. I'm thinking I'll take this opportunity to go and get some spicy takeaway for my dinner yummmm.
Oh, and I just found out that, even though I had only been working at my new job for 4 days of their financial year, I still get a bonus! It's only $80, but since I wasn't expecting anything I'm delighted. This job just keeps getting better...

I'm Deedub and I'm number 22. Tough choice, but I think I like the Baker's apron best.
Thanks Courton!

Finally finished Anna Karenina - bit of a marathon effort but I'm glad I did it! Feel like something contemporary now so downloaded Barracuda by Christos Tsolkas (probably spelt it wrong), ebook was under $10. Also downloaded The Luminaries and The Secret Keeper, both also under $10 - should be set for summer holidays now!
Did I mention I love my kindle? :)

Another busy 'day off' here. Older DD went off on her school camp this morning, back in 2 days - excitement levels were pretty high at school this morning as you can imagine! Coffee with friends - missing one of our regulars as her dad died 2 days ago from cancer. We had planned for all our families to spend this weekend together at Flinders but have now decided to cancel as understandably our friend's not feeling up to it and wouldn't be the same without her.
Haircut, some Xmas shopping, a bit of cooking, picked up other DD from school, more cooking, took DD to music lesson, then we went out for dinner (very ordinary meal, but it was DD's choice). And of course the usual washing, housework and other bits & pieces.

I think the present I sent must still be in transit - starting to get worried now.... Gert I'm thinking the jug would be perfect for Pimms with cucumber, tennis starts soon!
