The salt block used to be popular years ago  in Sydney restaurants. Bit out of date now.

We sell Himalayan rock salt in our shop. Will have to ask the supplier (who is local and imports it) if I can cook on it.

Mcmich it was tender.

I haven't cooked anything else on it yet but i was thinking of doing some chicken breast on it tonight.  I believe it is very good to cook seafood on.

DG i saw on youtube that a girl was using a salt brick that they sell for horses to cook on.  Apparently you just have to prime them in the oven first.

I've got a Himalayan pink salt slab and I also have some round dishes made from it but have seldom used them.  My problem is remembering I have them and get them out when I have something suitable to cook on them.

Some of my Japanese friends serve sushi on the slabs which have been chilled in the freezer.  It makes an attractive presentation.

Here's some ideas.

It was this recipe link that prompted me to buy the salt slabs about three years ago.
There are some interesting ideas - I did use them for caramelizing peaches and pineapple to serve with grilled cheeses (non-melting types like halloumi).

I succumbed at the Good Food and Wine Show on Friday.

Back from italy and was very good.. Only bought a few items .. Didnt get to look as much as i wanted as it was lovely and hot but the kids got grumpy quick so often was rushed :(( but still pleased with my purchases.. Just a shame i didnt get back to see some of the gorgeous jewellery i saw..

Two bags with matching same leather wallets
One more travel and/or work and the other lrge handbag

A gorgeous book you can get at most major online bookshops just i happened to see it in a library in Firenze (florence) .. Love the style of the book

The geometry of pasta book i found interesting as it has so many kinds of pasta and thier sauces.. Two story books for the kids based on famous paintings.. Found it original and a pinocchio pop up book..

Got back home to rain nd cold weather and a drive home that took almost 6 hours instead of 3 then yesterday woke up to dd having broken out in chicken pox.. Oh well just infected half of tuscany lol..

Had a great time.. Would loved to have stayed much longer but so much to get done before the move so time was limited..
