Spiders (with photo)
« on: November 09, 2010, 08:20:42 am »

This is the 2nd recipe that I prepared for Halloween
They were so cute and delicious!!!!

I got the brownie recipe from forum: http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=2496.0
Thanks to Cathy79 for the conversion
The brownie tasted great
The only difference is I didn't use self raising flour. I add baking powder myself

The idea for spiders is from bakerella http://www.bakerella.com/spiders-spiders-spiders/
I heard it from Cathy"s post as well so thanks again ;)

Spiders

Ingredients
Brownie
150g dark chocolate (broken into pieces)
150g butter
320g sugar
4 eggs
200g flour
10g baking powder
1 tsp vanilla

For coating
200g dark chocolate
Chocolate decorations

For Legs
Liquorice (unrolled, cut into leg-length pieces)

Eyes
M & Ms or gumdrops

    * Melt chocolate and butter for 4 minutes at 50ºC on Speed 1-2
    * Add sugar, eggs, flour, baking powder and vanilla. Mix for 1 minute on Speed 3
    * Cover a 20 x 30cm baking tin with baking paper. Pour down brownie mixture
    * Bake in preheated oven at 180ºC for about 30 minutes. (Check with a toothpick if its cooked)
    * Let it cool down a little
    * Trim the edges of the cake, also the top surface if needed (Don't throw them out! They are too delicious to waste:) )
    * Cut brownie cake into pieces. Roll them into a ball shape. (If they are crumbling too much you can wet them with a little milk)
    * Put them in the fridge for 30 minutes

    * Melt chocolate with bain-marie method. Using a strong toothpick or a skewer dip brownie balls into malted chocolate and then coat with chocolate decorations. Place them into muffin papers. (It's better to have legs and eyes ready beforehand. They stick well when you do these steps fast one after another)
    * Let them rest for 1 hour or more before you serve

They are really cute.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.
