Disaster. Fig and pear paste didn’t work. The sugar in the mixture burnt before the mixture reached the right consistency. I’ll stick to making jam with the rest of the figs.

That’s disappointing Chookie.

Going to try Helen Goh’s recipe for Anzacs. Also making another lot of Portuguese Custard Tarts. These are for a local Anzac get together.

Chookie the only Anzac’s are your Macadamia Anzacs , truly a family stable ! Yet after all the times I’ve made I could not remember the recipe! Looked and did not find the printed recipe. So I am so appreciative that Cookie booted up the forum ! I could have contacted you too , my mind has been a tad in overdrive, not thinking clearly. Now ti get a moment to make them .

Over the past couple of weeks I have made a Lemon Belgium Teacake, 2 lots of chilli jam, pizza dough for the freezer, 2 casseroles for the freezer and GS, sausage rolls and pastie slice and vegetable soup.  That's a lot more cooking than I have done for some time.
The  man who said it can't be done should not interupt the woman doing it.

My neighbor has been giving me buckets of organic carrots. She works at a farm where they develop new varieties of veggies. They are not allowed to sell or donate the excess, but staff can take home. I distribute them and make lots of carrot based dishes. I made a cake to send back to the farm and carrot and lentil soup. Also healthy balls of carrot, nuts, dates and dried fruit.  She also gave me some red and green chillies and capsicums. I’ve added roasted red capsicum to hummus and roasted 1/2 capsicum filled with cheese mushrooms and egg.

Crumbs, that's a lot of carrots, Chookie.

This weekend it is corn chowder, sweet potato and peanut soup and a bean salad - it is obviously getting into soup season now!  Made a huge pot of stew last week so we have quite a bit stocked in the freezer and DH also made some dahl and rice so we are set up for the week.
