Spent the day at GFs making heaps for a Market on Sunday ! Double batch of Onion jam , zucchini relish ( that was prepared night before ) , kusundi Indian sauce that goes with everything ( finishing off this morning) We prepped tomatoes and onions to make tomato relish the next day . Than an apricot slice . We do it all on the stove in huge pots , one at a time as jarring up has its challenges if two ready at once . There is a slight chance that it maybe canceled so pausing this morning.

Today we finished off the kasundi . Made the tomato relish . Then a ginger crunch slice and Donna Hays caramel slice also DGF had made a chocolate fudge. Apricot slice was made yesterday. Then we proceeded to package up slices cut into four . DGF labeled all the products- it was a massive day ! And yes due to the very bad weather it has been cancelled But the hospital store is going ahead so anyone missed out on realising it’s cancelled can still get a lot of products. Same amount of work , bring on Sunday and I’m going to say that has been a huge few days . Home dinner ready and early to bed for me . Bet you it doesn’t rain and no storm tomorrow!!

My goal is to stew pears each day to go in the freezer ( now that I have some containers) There is nothing like a home grown pear from the fridge on a hot day though .

Yesterday I made a batch of apple and Pear chutney, this was my mums recipe. I used the home grown pears but the apples are not ready , so shop ones for now . Three large jars ! Also two whole TMX jugs of stewed pears . Freezer stash ! Now the problem is the kitchen is still full of pears . The lorakets are slowly visiting so I don’t mind too much , still scare them away though .
Today I used both TMXs to make apple and Pear chutney- it was very cathartic, putting everything in slowly realising that my converted recipe I had to half and Chookie I had notes on it to use your Pear lemon and cardamom chutney as a guide . I miss Mum everyday but still right now part of me is missing ( it’s her words and guidance) . On to the next batch of stewed pears for the freezer .
