I made a Pastie Slice for lunch today.  DIL had said that she hadn't been able to buy a decent pastie anywhere lately so I made the recipe from the Recipe Community and DIL enjoyed it. DH, DS and DIL ate a large piece each. One piece was wrapped and taken to DIL father, 2  pieces went in the freezer and one piece left over for dinner tomorrow night.  It is a very economical dish.

I prefer a homemade pastie to a meat pie. I like mine served  with homemade chilli sauce. Mab, do you put sweet or turnip in yours. ?

Recently I have made Cinnamon Shortbread, Foccacia from RTE, Beef casserole for the freezer, 8 jars Chilli Jam, Worcestershire sauce and Potato & Leek Soup.  Not all in the one day.

Mab, you are wonderful. Cooking all that great food to feed family when you can’t eat it. A friend gave me a large bag of mandarins. They are small and full of pips. I’ve decided to boil them up and put through the jelly bag and make jelly.
Cauliflower and cheese soup.

I’ve made a Thermomumma giant loaf.

Yesterday I made some Cauli and veggie soup. I added some white pepper and nutmeg and it certainly improved it. My gardener and cleaner both enjoyed it. Good, now I don’t have to eat it for a week.
Made a white loaf with added sunflower seeds in the new mini bread machine. Love the small size of this loaf.it is also a perfect size for the jaffle machine.

I made pasties. I prepared the raw mixture and cook it in the microwave. Let it cool and then make the pasties. I was tempted to make the traditional mix at one end and sweet at the other end, like the Cornish miners would take to the mines for their lunch. I can never quite face up to do this.

Pea and ham soup in SC. Bread for garlic bread. Sticky Date pudding from Cookidoo. I’ll make double sauce as it never seems enough.

Pasties are popular at the moment. I made kidney friendly ones for df then sweet chilli Thai sauce (low in sodium and potassium) to improve the flavour for him - he can’t have tomato sauce.

I love the thought of the traditional Cornish Pastie. I’ve never tasted one though. I made a muesli slice for the freezer and the Spice Fruit loaf from Cookidoo.

Judy, I love Sweet Chilli Sauce with the pastie. I didn’t add salt but lots of pepper.

I am not sure if this is the right place to come to, but what is your easiest / best / never fail cookie to make in an emergency.  I am sure there must be something on here somewhere that answers this question, but I haven't been able to find it.

Marina, Cornflake Biscuits,  Shortbread, Anzacs, YoYos/Melting Moments, Honey Snaps from Chookie and anything with choc chips are always favourites here. The Walnut Refrigerator Biscuits from Emerald Sue are always popular at Christmas. I'm sure others will some special ones too.

Yesterday I made Braised Steak and Onions and Sloppy Joes from RTE.
