Just started In a New York Minute by Kate Spence.  Only on chapter 2 but it looks like it will be a nice light read.  I have just put The Siren's Call by Chris Hayes on my reading list - it looks like an interesting read.
Marina from Melbourne and Guildford
I can resist everything except temptation - Oscar Wilde.

I e almost finished the Jackie French book, and the started the Lynda La Plante when I was at the hospital on Tuesday. I don’t usually read 2 books at once but wanted something with lots of reading in case it took ages. Both are good.

I have just finished reading Backup is Three Hours Away by Mark Tregellas.  It's his personally journey of policing in remote areas.  Sometimes funny, sometimes sad and at times frightening but well worth reading.
This sounded interesting Margaret. I ended up buying it. I enjoyed it very much. Thanks.

Our last book was , 537 days of winter. I loved it but it divided the group. It was about 24 people stranded at the Australian station at the Antarctic during COVID.

I love the sound of that Chookie. I’m finishing a book DD recommended, it’s not too bad. Then I have to read Piglet, for book club. It doesn’t look very enticing, but I haven’t started it yet.

I came on to get some reading suggestions. I haven't got a book on the go atm. I've just finished reading the last in the series, Before the Coffee gets Cold. It's by a Japanese author Toshikarzu Kawaguchi. it's been translated to English so sometimes doesn't flow. It's has nice story lines with not too much thinking to be done.

I’ll have to mention that to DD Mich. She loves Japanese literature.  I’ve just finished The Valley by Chris Hammer. I enjoy his books.

The Salt Path, Raynor Winn. Not quite sure what to say about this book. Reading it for book club. She has a great way with words but I found the book over sentimental at the beginning and boring for the most part.

KAtie, I didn’t see the film but it was part of our Probus Theatre programme. Those that saw it agreed that the scenery was interesting. I have actually visited many of the towns that they travelled through.
I was impressed by the word skills of the author. I looked her up online to see if her background was what influenced her writing. What I read shocked me. She stole 59 thousand pounds from a firm she worked for. To pay back the money, they borrowed 100 thousand pounds from a friend at %18 interest. They couldn’t repay it and that’s how they lost everything.

I’ve just finished A Particularly Nasty Case by Adam Kay. He has written non fiction books discussing when he was a doctor. They are very funny. This is fiction. It’s ok, but not really funny.
I heard Margaret Hickey speaking on the radio about her latest book. She mentioned a man was found hanging from the arm of a wind turbine. I bought it and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. It’s my kind of ‘who dunnit’ book.
My last book club book was Southern Aurora by Mark Brandi. I enjoyed that. Most book club books are hard going. The next one is a Christian White which I’ve read and is good.

Cookie, thanks for that list , I’ll check them out. I also find the book club books not generally to my liking. However it’s probably good to be forced to read books out of our comfort zone.

I’m currently reading a lighthearted book from a friend called The Single Ladies of Jacaranda Retirement  Village, it’s so easy to identify with all their problems. I haven’t read books for decades but on our recent cruise and island stay there was plenty of time to do so - I managed to get through 3 books. My daughter has an awesome library from which I can borrow from in the future when time allows.
