I am avid reader but you will hardly find any books in our home Gert. I only borrow from our gorgeous local library(a converted church building with a librarian who loves reading)... A match made in heaven, I used to have a house groaning with books but after being forced to throw out many car boot loads of books when we moved countries  I am a changed person. When I do buy books I give it away to my friends ...I do not keep any.

I certainly have downsized  my books  since I bought a Kindle but also because living in the tropics the books can get mouldy and smelly . Before Kindle I used to buy most of my books at the  Salvaltion Army store And they joined the reading circuit  with my friends. Now most all my friends have Kindles and I notice the sallies have more books than ever. I try not to look!   Our local libraries  are ok but sadly underfunded.

Cookie,  glad you are safely home,  nice holiday but not so good on the way home.  These things do shake you up,  but at least you were able to help.  The girls and their families will forever be grateful for what you did.
Maddy,  that is dreadful about your GS.  There are some very evil and sick people in our community.
Children reading,  wonderful.  That they will read with a torch is just so good.  We always buy books for our GC for Christmas and birthdays.  Interestingly that even though the GC have iPads they still love their books.

I like the moderators stylish new green slashes. :)
I too used to read in bed with a torch when I was supposed to be asleep, and I've sprung my daughter doing the same. My DS is dyslexic, but has been enjoying the Treehouse books too. He is hanging out for Sept when the new book is due out.

I know we tried but very hard when your dealing with  child that has psycopath tendancies, he shows the personalty traits & is now wanting to kill animals.

He resents cp.

Hs persoality is just about this, which is psycopathic.

an arrogant, deceitful interpersonal style, involving dishonesty, manipulation, grandiosity and glibness;

defective emotional experience, involving lack of remorse, poor empathy, shallow emotions and a lack of responsibility for one’s own actions;

behavioural manifestations of impulsiveness, irresponsibility and sensation-seeking.

For your own safety Hally, this needs to happen.  You did the best you could under difficult circumstances. xx

Oh Hally, my heart goes out to you. Take care, and give CP a hug.

Judy, maybe it's just my iPad playing up, but each of the moderators have a lovely slash under their avatars that changes colour from dark to light green  :-\

Dh is upstairs but we are all sleeping in our bedroom with the door locked, so if he gets a knife out he cant stab us.
