Uni why ot put it back in the box and forget about it. ;D :-))

Frozzie. Your DOD sounds like my DOD. Miserable old fart. Avoid when able. Your Mother  probably deserves a medal for living with him.

This situation won't last forever. Just has to be endured for the moment. Also lessons are being learned all around about tolerance, kindness, and how to deal with difficult situations. Think of it as character building. ;D

Then when you get your own place you can invite your DOD to visit for a week with YOUR rules and see how he manages. That could be fun  for you and your DH.  Hope you can find a house with a pool.

If you want to move to Cairns you can buy a house here with a pool pretty cheaply at the moment!

Frozzie - my thoughts are with you and your whole family . . . your Dad's retired and doesn't have that distraction/outlet of going out to work, getting older and doesn't quite understand the pressures - or the pressures he's placing on others (probably be mortified if he fully realised).  Hang in there . . . there's that current saying . . . Keep Calm and Carry On . . .

Once school starts back and day to day things are more routine it will be better . . . fingers crossed for you!
