yep - I did . . . .What did you make of it, Uni?  I was talking to a friend who also received one.  We concurred - we'd both hold the MC in place - as we've done plenty of times - or else hold a folded t-towel etc over the MC.  I'd be afraid not to at the high speeds for blending soup

  Apparently, step 9 of the section on Converting your Favourite Soups in TM31 the edc stated "Once cooked, place MC in lid and blend for 10-20 seconds working gradually up to speed 9.        
Hold MC in place with other hand. . . . . . .

Apparently, holding the mc in place with your hand is against the safety rules and that part should be left out for fear of burning your fingers/hand.

Personally, as I said before, I'd feel really uncomfortable not holding it place with something.
