Glad everything is back to normal now, Uni . .seems the  gremlins have had their fun and have moved on! My printer I thought was ready for the scrapheap at one time - that is, until I turned it upside down and shook it (not too) violently (believe it or not, that action came from some advice I picked up on the internet) . . . . and out fell a small purple plastic pencil sharpener . .worked perfectly after that - for which I was very thankful.  I thought I was up for a new printer . . . . .
