Doing your Christmas cooking Chookie?  You must have been waiting on the starting line for that link, glad I could help.  Poor ducks, their Mum must be distressed.

Judy, the mother duck is a Black Duck.  They are not very good mothers. Yesterday RAL was on the tractor down at the dam.  The 4 little ones saw him and were running after the tractor as they know he has food. The mother was trying to keep up with the little ones.
It is still cool.  Good for baking.
The cold weather upsets the Chooks and they are not laying a lot.  Our visitor couldnít get over the difference  the fresh eggs make when poached.

Can anyone tell me about the new blade thing for slow cooking or sous vide, I had an email about it and wondered if it is any good? I tend to use my Everhot for slow cooking and not sure I need it but would like to know more if you lovely lot can fill me in on that and any thermie news I've missed in my long absence.
I have the normal one is it a mark 2? I got it in 2012.
Thanks so much. DJ

Hi DJ. Iím sorry I canít help you at all.

Chookie your ducks sounds quite special. We have 3 white domestic ducks at the lake down the end of our street. They have been there for a few years.  No ducklings though. Maybe no drake around that visits.

CC, feel for you with the rain while you are in the caravan.
It is still cold here and we have had lots of light misty rain.
Cookie, the ducklings are so cute.  I tried to take a photo of them chasing Ral on the tractor.  Not very successful as they are so small. RAL is already out of the photo on the left.

Good morning everyone.  Overcast and cool again.       Lovely photo Chookie.
Yesterday our local shire in its wisdom came and removed all the play equipment from our little park.  No one knows why or what they are going to do with the park.  We are hoping they are not going to sell it for development or make it into extra parking for the nearby school.  All the neighbours are furious.

I love the photos Chookie. Mab that is awful. Local councils do all sort of dumb things, then when you enquire they really donít have satisfactory answers.
CC I will attempt to send you some of our weather, it was over 40 degrees here today. Three days over 35 and Iíve had enough of summer.

Overcast today. 15 degrees.
Mab that is awful about the park.  Make a stink at council. I bet someone is getting a hand out to sell it as a development site. Contact your local Council member.
Years ago Melb City Council had an Annual Cocktail Party, paid for by the rate payers. No resident was ever invited only big business owners and Council members families. I complained in writing and the next thing we got an invite.  Didnít want to go but did make them more accountable.  Not long after the event was cancelled.

Well done Chookie. We have a council over here (not ours) who posted on facebook that they were going to pull down 2 very old jetties on the river. When the rate payers heard they kicked up, and now they are being fixed up.

Yes, that is our place and being Spring it does look lovely. Many years ago it was a Rose nursery. The roses at the moment are beautiful. RAL is able to sit on the mower and do what is necessary to keep it looking nice. We have been working to make it low maintenance. We have covered all the flower beds with sugar cane straw.  It is wonderful at keeping the weeds down. We have a gardener come  and do 2 hours every 2 weeks, although she hasnít been for 6 weeks. Although it will be about 20 today, it is getting warmer.
