I popped down to the shops for some last minute things this morning. It was a mad house at 8.30am.
I cooked eggs, potatoes, made jelly and custard for tomorrow.

Made some fruit paste to have with cheese. This one is Apricot and Pineapple. I got several of the visitors to tase it. They liked it .
Making big batch of bread rolls today.  The stale small ones I’ve been slicing into thin rounds and toasting. Good bases for cheese and smoked salmon.

I made a rice salad, two potato salads, a trifle, cooked a festivus meat loaf and a rolled chicken. I didn’t do a very good job of rolling the chicken so it sort of fell apart. It will still taste nice.

Swabian (German) potato salad, gado gado, mushroom quesidallas, sweet potato brownies, Greek salad ... that's all I can remember, but I am sure there was more.

I made a Nutella Chocolate cake and iced it with Tenina’s Ermine frosting. DD requested it for her birthday cake.

Wishing everyone all the best for 2026. May things go according to your plans.

Judy, imagine your GD having the same birthday as DD. Did she have a celebration?

She asked for a holiday so the 4 of them are in NZ at the moment. No doubt there will be a family dinner upon their return cookie.

Over the past week or so I have made, fruit cake, pickled some red onions, made RTE Italian cheese loaf for a family afternoon tea, quiche, hummus, mini pavlovas using the liquid from the chick peas, Mushroom wellington and a lemon dessert for GD Christmas lunch.
The  man who said it can't be done should not interupt the woman doing it.

Not much cooking but I did do smoked salmon blinis with fresh dill for NYE . Used the Aldi smoked salmon gravax . Pity I didn’t get more as it is always so nice . Think it’s their Christmas special.
