Merry Christmas Judy, Cookie and all on here, especially from the days I used to post here often.

Hope everyone has had a great day with their loved ones.

Been a busy house here;  Grandson (turns 8 in 3 weeks) staying with us for approx 4 weeks during the holidays.  His dad is out at sea on a fishing ship and his mum (our daughter) comes up when itís her days off.  She came up last night after work to spend Christmas Eve and Day with us but has to leave in about an hour to return home as she has work tomorrow morning.

We had a lovely roast lunch finished off with Teninaís Berry Pavlova (2 layer) which turned out absolutely perfect.  Best pav Iíve ever made!

So nice to clean up and sit and relax for the rest of the day.  Going to be hot here for a few days but thankfully we have good air conditioning ☺

All the best for the New Year everyone!

When I was on DD's computer a week or so ago my fingers sort of slipped and ordered these books from Book Depository.

Oooh, nice buying there Cookie.  When my finger slips it's usually when looking at clothes/shoes  :-[

We haven't had any rain here for a few months, but had 33mm overnight.  Even stopped me from going for my morning walk. :o  Worth it though.  ;D

I'm glad you enjoyed it Courton.  Wow, 5 years, so long ago :)

Sorry to hear that Julie, you will be cursing the trip to Adelaide.  I had a bad one last winter but so far so good this year so I can understand your position.  I hope you are both back to feeling really well again soon.

Not at all Judy, could have happened anywhere.  We both really enjoy Adelaide and this certainly won't change that.  :D

Thanks for all your nice wishes everyone.  We take good health for granted until feeling unwelll then it's a real eye opener.  Looking forward to getting back to normal as quickly as possible.  Enjoy your weekend.  :-*

Hi everyone,

Not been here for a little while as both DH and I have been really sick since getting back from Adelaide early last week.

It seems we picked up some sort of lurgy which hit us 3 days after getting home.  Weíve both never felt so sick as what weíve been; splitting headaches, fever, sleeping on and off, snivels, hacking cough (DH) and for me a complete loss of appetite.  Iíve lost almost 3kg in 6 days, not from loss of fluid as I made sure I kept up with my water intake, but just from hardly eating a thing.  Iíve made a conscious effort to eat the last 2 days and have gained back 400g which is great.  We even drove down to the beach at lunch time yesterday for some fresh air and sunshine as weíre fed up being in bed/cooped up in the lounge.  It was nice to get out and we managed to do our usual walk, all be it a bit slower than normal.  Iíll leave the early mornings for a little while until fully back to health.

DH will be returning to work soon, at least Iím fortunate not to have to worry about that.

I never thought Iíd say it, but I canít wait until the weather starts to warm up.  I canít remember ever feeling so cold (and miserable).  I usually love winter but not this year.
Hope to be back on here properly soon, take care.

This recipe is also in Nifty but Thrifty too for anyone who has that.  :)

Great tip regarding the Varoma Cookie, I wouldn't have thought of that.  Nice looking jam.  :)

A good Sunday morning to everyone  :D

We are in Adelaide for the weekend.  Went to the footy last night and are going to a function today.  Weather was beautiful here yesterday; lovely, sunny and crisp.  This morning is looking just as nice that I can see (from our Hotel window).  I still wake at 5 no matter what time I get to bed.  ;D

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.  :)

Thank you for the lovely comments. Julie the brioche buns are the EDC recipe. I made them into 15 smallish buns and cooked them in a rectangle lamington tin.  The cream buns are this recipe When cold, cut and fill with cream or mock cream and jam. I used chookies plum raspberry jam.

Love the magic cake cookie. Can't wait to try it.

thanks Kimmy.  ;D

Lovely friands ES.  :D

I menu plan too, have been doing so for years.  I find it especially useful these days as both DH and I eat differently and it's the way for me to keep organised.  :D

A bit of a dismal start to my day, very dark cloud cover.  Got my walk in though as we are expecting rain mid morning.  :)

It's good that you had a trial run in something smaller Mcmich, you could then buy with confidence.  :D

I enjoyed Marcella, though some parts were a bit silly and scraping the realms of reality. I would watch another series if they make one though.  :D

Fantastic selection there Kimmy.  I especially like the look of the brioche and cream buns.  Are the recipes on the forum please?

Chookie, those pop overs look amazing.  :D
