Thank you Chookie , we are good . Although the fire next to us started up this morning and it burnt more than last night . Pushed DH out the door boots and all to go speedy to it . Off Boys went and first on the job again , lots of private units in the end , it burnt so quickly as it was a wheat crop not harvested . The power came on at 1am and I made a tea and put a load of fire clothes on . Boiled water filled the thermos - I was determined we were going to loose power again . I’m very tired today . We had a drive around it all and that helped . Really it’s nothing , so many loss of homes sheep and crops at all the big fires, so sad .

While I’ve been incapacitated I’ve been reading a book a day. Mostly rubbish. However I read, What Happened to Nina and The Glass Maker for Book club. Enjoyed both. I was impressed by both author’s different style of writing.

Marina, glad the power came on again. Many in Ballarat also lost power. I was ok.
Cleaning out spice drawer, I found some KFC spice that I had made. . I had a chicken thigh defrosting so made a slurry of spice with flour and water and coated the thigh. I shallow fried the thigh. Ate with slaw for lunch .

I pulled out what I thought were dead potatoe tops. Attached were small potatoes. I steamed them in TMX and then mashed them, skin still on. I then added egg , flour and milk SAnd P. Made mini waffles in my mini machine.  They are soft when cooked but reheated in AF turn crisp. G S ate some with Maple Syrup and cream , I thought I’d try some with grilled tomato, prosciutto and egg.

I’m so pleased to hear from Marina and Katie this morning. I’ve always got beds available if needed.
I went to the Gym but the Physiologist was on holidays. His assistant was good in moderating my program. The best part was coffee afterwards.
Judy, glad to see you enjoying your 7. I’m sure I’m not using mine to capacity but the more I use it the more I learn.

Had the left over curry and rice from last night.

We lost power in the afternoon but the advice was that it would be back on at 7.30 pm so DH dished up the curry in anticipation of a quick heat zap in the microwave and dinner would be ready - the only problem was that the power didn't come on so we just decided we would be eating cold curry - an interesting meal.  Half way through the power came on again so we were saved!

What a night K Atie, so frightening but what a relief you were all able to contain the fire before it got away from you - I would hate to have been in your shoes.  The weather was fierce - strong, strong winds and horrendously hot - I think just about the entire state was on fire yesterday, except the south east which was lucky for them.  The emergency map is looking a bit better this morning.

We lost power as well when we were just coming out of a fire warning about 5 kms away, but we were fine.  Another friend from the other side of Castlemaine evacuated for a while, but they are back home and safe.  Fortunately the weather is looking better today - sigh of relief.
