I pulled out what I thought were dead potatoe tops. Attached were small potatoes. I steamed them in TMX and then mashed them, skin still on. I then added egg , flour and milk SAnd P. Made mini waffles in my mini machine.  They are soft when cooked but reheated in AF turn crisp. G S ate some with Maple Syrup and cream , I thought I’d try some with grilled tomato, prosciutto and egg.

I’m so pleased to hear from Marina and Katie this morning. I’ve always got beds available if needed.
I went to the Gym but the Physiologist was on holidays. His assistant was good in moderating my program. The best part was coffee afterwards.
Judy, glad to see you enjoying your 7. I’m sure I’m not using mine to capacity but the more I use it the more I learn.

Had the left over curry and rice from last night.

We lost power in the afternoon but the advice was that it would be back on at 7.30 pm so DH dished up the curry in anticipation of a quick heat zap in the microwave and dinner would be ready - the only problem was that the power didn't come on so we just decided we would be eating cold curry - an interesting meal.  Half way through the power came on again so we were saved!

What a night K Atie, so frightening but what a relief you were all able to contain the fire before it got away from you - I would hate to have been in your shoes.  The weather was fierce - strong, strong winds and horrendously hot - I think just about the entire state was on fire yesterday, except the south east which was lucky for them.  The emergency map is looking a bit better this morning.

We lost power as well when we were just coming out of a fire warning about 5 kms away, but we were fine.  Another friend from the other side of Castlemaine evacuated for a while, but they are back home and safe.  Fortunately the weather is looking better today - sigh of relief.

I’ll report in more tomorrow. Power was out and possibly not till the 14 ! It came one 12.30am . I’ve rushed to do a few things power up phones and washing ( fire clothes of DH ) we had a fire right here lighting. It was huge and luckily boys were watching lighting strikes and  got t to i it , many many units later , fire men came .started with a tree then another whole paddock . Thought that’s it I’m done . So so lucky . Not like others . It’s going to be a long night . But we are ok . My heart is still racing and stress levels are high . Ether let my phone charge as I’m sure we will loose power again . Night .

My consultant isn’t coming until Tuesday ladies so naturally I had to have a play with my new machine. I’m making a list of questions as I go but so far today using Cookidoo I’ve made tomato soup using some of my copious supply of cocktail tomatoes (haven’t tasted it yet), a pea and chickpea slice thingy for lunch with DF which I didn’t like but will try some as a soup with added chicken stock tonight and then I did the Vegemite cheesy scrolls which look good. I’ll have one with the soup tonight. Yes it’s great and leading up to the delivery I had bookmarked lots of recipes to try, only those with a rating of 4 or more which doesn’t guarantee that you’re going to enjoy it - the pea slice for example. DF was very surprised with the performance.  I’d done all the prep work on 2 recipes before he arrived so it was just a matter of then whizzing through the prompts which meant a very quick result to get it into the oven or pressing the cook button for the soup. Love how quiet it is, a clever little machine for sure and although I haven’t been using the 31 much I know I will do more in this one. Finding kidney friendly recipes will be my mission but I can see myself just swapping out ingredients from Cookidoo or converting recipes from different kidney sites.

Good to see you able to go out today Chookie, I hope you learned something from the physiologist.

Cool change was lovely this afternoon, I hope it stays cool. The a/c man has not got back to me, they’re probably all run off their feet.

Take care those in fire prone areas, thinking of you all as cookie is.

I’m thinking of you all and the fires. I know exactly where Chookie is but I saw Guildford on one of the maps they are showing here. Stay safe Marina and DH. I’m not exactly sure where you are KAtie, but stay safe.
One of our friends had to evacuate yesterday. He has several valuable old cars, including a pink Cadillac. I see where the fire started up again near him. Not fun.

I made another muesli slice for the freezer. DD said something tasted really off in the last one. DH said it tastes ok to him so he’s eating it. 😀😀
