Chit Chat / What have you been doing today?
« on: September 18, 2025, 11:58:11 am »
Thanks everyone. Today we turned for home. I havea couple of appointments coming up. Tonight we are free camping in Moora. We took the back roads and found a fascinating sculpture.

My grandmother was the cook in this hotel about 70 years ago. I just remember visiting her when we came down from the farm. My Dad went to school here. (Moora)

Cookie, how large is the freezer in your Motorhome. ?
It’s about 40 litres I think. The fridge/freezer is much bigger than any of our vans had. We used to carry an Engel.

Today we went out to Koolanooka hills in the Suzuki and then to Perenjori to see wreath flowers. It’s so easy in the little Suzuki, it pops along and is 4WD should we need it. We don’t want to take the motorhome on any rough roads. This way we can put the MH in a park and explore in the Suzuki.

I always use Verjuice instead of white wine. I rarely drink nowadays and find it handy. For red wine I buy a bottle and freeze it in 1 cup amounts.

I’m afraid I still boil my eggs in the basket. I know how to get what we like so can’t be bothered changing.
DD used the 7 last night to do the tacos . She said she enjoyed them and has plenty for leftovers tonight.

Last night we had pork chops, round chips and salad. Tonight is steak, round chips and salad. Traditional motorhome food.

Thanks KAtie. It would have been a Maui.  We are rather lucky as we know a few places to find the wreath flowers. We stopped at the big tractor again.. I love it. Drove past the house we used to live in too.
We are at a free camp near Three Springs, with about 30 others.

You can see someone’s legs near the front left tyre.  It gives the perspective well.
Here we are in New Norcia. It’s a monastery town, first settled by Bishop Salvado. There used to be boarding schools here too but they have closed down. You can see the girls boarding school. It was called St Gertrude’s.

Lovely Judy. Have you tried avocado or don’t you like it?

Yes, I enjoyed it and laughed too Judy. I’m starting the latest book from JD Robb tonight. More murder, mystery and mayhem.

Tonight’s dinner was the leftover potato pie from last night. We are free camped tonight as we couldn’t get into the Carnamah caravan park, they were full. Most unusual for a tiny town.

Katie not fun. I’m still doing my vertigo exercises.
Mab very scarey for you. Go carefully. Maybe lumpy purées, like they do with babies.

DH has taken the motorhome to fill it with diesel. My packing is only clothes and food. It doesn’t take long. We leave everything else in there…….unless it’s at the dealers.
Katie what brand was the one you hired?  It’s pouring here today and the MH isn’t leaking😀😀 it’s a pity they didn’t fix it properly back in June. Then they wouldn’t have to replace all the cupboards. I’m really looking forward to getting away.

I made a Classic Loaf and a rye SD yesterday. Today will be choc chip and walnut biscuits to take away. It’s sort f become traditional to make these when we go away.

I’ve just finished A Particularly Nasty Case by Adam Kay. He has written non fiction books discussing when he was a doctor. They are very funny. This is fiction. It’s ok, but not really funny.
I heard Margaret Hickey speaking on the radio about her latest book. She mentioned a man was found hanging from the arm of a wind turbine. I bought it and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. It’s my kind of ‘who dunnit’ book.
My last book club book was Southern Aurora by Mark Brandi. I enjoyed that. Most book club books are hard going. The next one is a Christian White which I’ve read and is good.
